Depends...is there a kilo of gold bullion stashed in the spare tire well?
Car & Driver, aren’t they the automotive equivalent of People magazine?

I belong to a couple station wagon pages on Facebook, and the price of that car has raised a few eyebrows and some discussion. The extremely low miles of the car and it's condition are usually sited as reason for the selling price. There are people that collect only very low mileage vehicles, possible someone might pay that. Myself, I'm just glad I already have my '72 Gran Torino wagon, since prices are now sure to skyrocket lol.

The buyer, in his comments on the site, said, "I thought I would have to pay a lot more!" He also claims he's going to have his new Ford GT finished in a paint-to-sample color that exactly matches this wagon. In that case, his Yellow Gold GT will be another unicorn.
Based on this quote alone, I wouldn't trust that all of the buyer's screws are tight.

And when i was young a stationwagon was a parts car :P
-
When I was young, the best thing about a station wagon was that a sleeping bag would fit quite comfortably in the back ;D

Ain't that the truth!

OK OK OK! I admit it. I bought this car. Sheesh. No reason to rub it in. I would have paid 50k even, but the seat belts are the wrong color and the driver's window crank is clocked in the wrong position. So, tampered with.

Just adding a picture of the car in the add.

Not my car.

C'mon road trip

To be honest, I would much rather pay that much for a esentially brand new 72 Torino wagon, than pay that much or more, for a 36 HP VW Microbus!

When you put it that way the Torino is a real bargain

I watched that '78 pinto wagon go across the block a month ago for $33k plus 10% fees so anything seems possible in the wagon world! At least I can say I got to sit in it!

Put 10,000 a year and a trailer hitch on the wagon and a new Transit. Save your GT40 as a weekend cruiser. 10 years from now post the maintence cost and photos. Your wagon is still going to be an eyesore but I bet it is still going for next to nothing.

In reality, I have three wagons, none of which are this '72. They are a 1964 Fairlane 500 Ranch Wagon in original Wimbledon White (289/C4) soon up for sale, a heavily optioned 1963 Galaxie Country Sedan in original Raven Black (390/Cruiso) which is destined for restoration and a trip to Barrett-Jackson, and a 1967 Mercury Commuter in original Tiffany Blue (390/C6) which might stick around here for a while.

My parents bought the same car, though in dark green in 72. Dad traded in his '65 Skylark. He kept this until he bought his "Festiva" in 78? 79?. Pretty sure there is a picture of it somewhere in the family photo album.

Coolness. I offer you 40 grand. Would be more, but some clown cut holes in the hood and put gang graffiti on the windshield. :) Also, needs 545 for grocery duty.
