Wow, me too! LMAO as well on that Nixon/Agnew sticker....man, that was light years ago! Got me to thinking what period sticker I could do on my'70 Mustang:

-Make love, not war
-Woodstock or bust
-a Peace symbol
-Rowan and Martin for President

Hah!

Nice car indeed. Hey, any pics of that blown 390's carnage?

A couple of the carnage ...   My best guess is the valve broke and caused every thing .....  :(

Dang.. sorry to see that. It sure does looks as if you dropped a valve. We're you gettin' in it at the time?

Happened to me on a Cleveland. The valve broke of
at the grove for the valve lock so almost the whole
valvedropped down in the cylinder.
Was cruising at 60 and it started to sputter
and the tach jumped allover i pressed down the clutch
and turned of ignition opened the hood and heard the
wather runing in the engine Pulled out the dipstick
and understod it was time for a walk home(pre cellphones)

Usually when you see carnage like that it indicates piston to valve contact, rather than a valve failure.  A typical scenario is the hydraulic lifters pump up or the springs lose control of the valves at high RPM.  The piston in the cylinder hits the valve because it is open too far (lifter is pumped up or the valve is bouncing off the seat), and breaks the head off the valve.  Once the valve head pops off all that carnage happens in about a half a second.  Been there, done that, unfortunately...

Took the car in for exhaust ... Im getting 2 1/2 inch 14g alum mandrel bent system with magnaflow mufflers.  Will have a x pipe  and flanges to unbolt system if needed.   1g out the door... alot of dough and I feel its alittle inflated $$ wise but these guys do tons of hot rod work and they make it look real pretty ....  :o

Had a great weather day and got to take it out for a good ride ... The wife kept the hammer in check but it ran great ! Had no problem braking the tires loose at anything under 30mph .. has plenty of zip .... a few bugs to tweek but overall its working good ....  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for all the help ...

^^^ What he said.. I'd love to hear it as I'm planning roughly the same thing. 2.5" Aluminized with an "H" bar and magnaflows. Your cam has a good deal more lift than the one I am using but I'd still  have a good idea. Car looks terrific BTW.   8)

I have been working on jetting/carb tuning. It run's 90% right now. I have been having problems getting the choke set correctly. for some reason I cant get the high idle to engage. So Im taking that apart to figure it out. Also jetting up the secondary. I thought it was running real strong at wot untill I turned on the nitrous with the bottle off,so it would just get a fuel shot and WOW it gained like 50hp ! no kidding.  so I am buying some bigger jets today... and it has a little lean just off idle .. need to get the pump adjusted correctly ect ....

Also need to pull the valve covers off when hot and adjust the rockers. There set at 20 cold and I'm sure hot there 26 or so.. thats to much .... Im going to set them at 15 hot.

stroker 390, c6 3500 stall, fpa headers,21/2 mandrel H pipe, flanged mufflers have both magna flows and flowmasters. (magna flows =more power, flowmasters sound better) , 3:70 trac-loc rear.
