Title: prepping a block for better oiling
Post by: olman on August 19, 2018, 05:04:20 PM
Hi Ford fans, just wondering if there is any info out there on the steps and procedures of prepping a FE block and heads for better oiling and draining back to the pan. Have looked and done a search but not found anything. Any info or website would be a big help.  Thanks      Bud

This book by Jay Brown has some good oiling system info, along with lots of other useful FE stuff:

Pick up the book (BOOKS) because every engine has "tricks" that make it live a better life.
Asking first is the best thing you could have done. Asking on this FORUM was the second best thing.
Check the alignment between the main bearing shell and the block. Make SURE the cam bearings are installed by someone
that KNOWS the correct way to put them in. (Anybody got an extra set?) My dude in Nampa Ideeho clued me in real quick that many of the old blocks cam bearings are no longer all the same size after a few rebuilds so check em out before ordering new ones. The book is your safest bet.
