Who is going to Norwalk to see the cobra jets
-
I'm intending to go, not huge on CJ's but there is usually some other Ford iron at these type of reunion shows. Last year's Ford Nationals was the same weekend as the Goodguys Columbus meet and an outright ghost town. I made the mistake of leaving free beer, dancing girls, candy paint and 3,000 identical 32 Ford's hoping for Ford muscle on 15" wheels drag racing. Lol That didn't happen! A handful of Yblock guys, a couple 5.0's and one V8 swapped little Ranger had the whole damn place... CJ event has to be better than that!

As much as I'd like to go with my car, I can't see spending that much just to get knocked out the first round. The car show is a bit on the expensive side also, seeing as how you have to buy the "full monty" when it comes to tickets. :(
I might go as a spectator, but with all the work I need to finish on the Galaxie to get it ready for DW, it'd take a minor miracle for me to be able to waste an entire day not working on it. I probably won't be able to make the decision until that day.

You guys don't seem to be very excited about this event. To me it seems to be very good event at least quite a lot of Hype. And it is also a NMCA event so there should be a lot of action on the dragstrip. Car shows are very boring at least to me. I am riding along with my friend and he is bringing his 69 Torino Cobra 428 to hopefully sell. 8)

I think its open to all cjs 351-429 and the new ones

My '69 F100 has a CJ motor, but I don't think that is what they are looking for. Plus the pricing is just crazy stupid(that's NMCA for you--and why I don't attend their events anymore).
Since Norwalk didn't offer a Ford event this year, I'd kinda like to go to it. I had a pretty good time last year and made it to the semi finals of King Ford run off. I don't see me going to the CJ event.

I will be there Friday and Saturday hanging out with my pal Bruce Sizemore.

Guys,
General admission at the gate for one day for both shows and racing is $25 for an adult... It's the VIP packs that get up there that include the CJ banquet ($60 alone) lunches or those that cover race or show entry.
The NMCA section includes not only all Ford's but GM Mopar AMC etc. the CJ event is just the headliner. Basically like a Shelby meet that is part of a larger sports car event.
*By the way about the best thing I'm aware of near the track is Casa Fiesta in the middle of town. FYI The place is awesome but anything marked "Gringo" there has hotdogs in it no matter what the menu says.lol Otherwise for anyone up for trip an hour East I can point you to all the local spots and latenight joints you might want to try.
Plus if you need something patched up to race that's where my shop is too. I don't need any work, trust me... just offering to help in a jamb. I know it sucks being broke somewhere you don't know anyone.

That was exactly my beef. You can't race without purchasing the VIP package with dinner etc. That's $200! And $60 for a car show entry? Come on >:( Blatant money grab if you ask me, or maybe they have to pay all those "VIP"s to show up and celebrate the CJ? What's more important, some VIP, or the actual cars themselves? I don't care to listen to a bunch of people at some expensive dinner, I just want to have my car there and do some racing. Not at that price though. End of rant... :P

Doug.... remember you missed Beaver Springs... you really need to redeem yourself! :P

Two words, Tom....Drag Week :)
If the Galaxie will make the 600 mile trip there, finish the week, then get me back home, I figure that'll be redemption enough.
I might go for one day as a spectator, but I can't afford the $200 right now, or the 3 days off from working on the Galaxie. I have 2 weeks to get it done (I'd like a few days to get some miles on it), and there's still lots to do yet.

Heading out in the AM... If you happen to notice a fat guy carrying a Fairlane bumper around that's probably me.
Plus it's the Rock n Race nostalgia event at 42 all weekend if you get bored at Norwalk.

The event was great . Excellent showing of the 135 cars (10 or more genuine) + lots of 68.5s ,69,70 , and 71.72.73s as well. :ots of history and ex Ford employees that created the cars. Great show and there were some very fast 1/8th mile cars too. Test and tune for Indy this weekend.
