A friends old Caprice showed up on Facebook today
Just so you know what we had to work with in the
80-90s. On this one i made all sheet metal new below
the doorhandle on the doors and rearfenders, trunkfloor,
around the windshield ,rearwindow, one feet up behind
frontwheel on front fender
Still no rust after 30+ years
I think i still have the unofficial record to the next town
(When i was young and irresponsible)
with this one, though it killed the 396, spun a rodbearing
Was a god car to pick up girls in we called it the trawler ;D
Then

And now

I think it got hit in the right door i do not leave a door fitting that bad. Compare the door gap on the then pic with now
Now the fender door gap is uneven the door is inside of the fender rear lower door corner is inside fender, rocker panel
the lower crease on the door is uneven

Wow, were those Champ 500 Centerlines on the old picture? Those were cool wheels, I still have a set of those...
-
Yes they are, i think he was the first one to buy
those around here
-
I remember it had drumbrakes so he bought a 68 impala i think.
With discs brakes a friday so we pulled a wholenighter and swapped
over brakes between cars and he sold the Impala saturday night
with a nice profit :D

Nice. My first car was an Oldsmobile. Of course it had the 6 cylinder, so we called it “The Gutless Supreme”

This is what he moved on to

Nice work Heo. That's a cool car, though I feel your pain for the bodywork that has slipped from your standards.
I always had a soft spot for white cars with red interiors. In 1992 I had a chance to buy a deluxe interior 68-1/2 Mustang GT Cobra Jet in that color combo. It had a four-speed too. :'( :'(

Well i guess 30 years and how many owners??? things happens
Yes i really like white with red interior. My first memmory of a
Mustang is a white 65-66 fastback with red int. a friend of my
father had. I guess it was 67 68 some time i was 3-4 years old
and the memory stuck

Gotta say, I have always had a soft spot for the full size 65-66 Chevys. When I took my drivers license road test back in 1973, it was behind the wheel of the family 66 Biscayne 4 door, 230 cube 6 cyl, 2 speed Powerglide, manual steering and brakes. Certainly not much to get exicted about performance wise,to say the least! And in the mid 70s, I spent a lot of time at a local Super Stock racers garage, helping him with his SS/OA 65 Impala station Wagon (396/325HP), and later his SS/HA (396/325), and later SS/EA (427/425HP) 69 Camaro. I always thought those big double flag 396 and 427 fender emblems looked badass.

This one was a 325/396 auto,P/S P/B from the factory like all 66 Caprice
GM sold in Sweden. After i spun the rodbearing he built
a pretty hot 402 out of it.
We built a TH400 for it, non of us had never opened a auto before that
