Id like to know what needs to be changed to fit a c4 in a 66/67 fairlane and if you have a factory auto console and shifter.

Converted from what? My '67 Ranchero had a column shift C4 originally and I switched it to a floor shift ( with factory console). I didn't change the column and simply removed the shift rod to the trans. I also unplugged the neutral safety switch ( on the column by the firewall) and plugged it into the appropriate harness for the floor shifter. The console shift conversion was expensive but was "the look" I wanted.

You will probably need to fabricate a new shift rod that goes from the bottom of the shifter to the transmission. The lever arm coming out of the C-4 should be for a floor shift model to make this easier, but if its from a column shift model you can also fabricate a bracket that bolts to the existing lever arm, and repositions the point where the floor shift rod attaches. If I recall correctly I did that once, and had to space out the neutral safety switch a bit to make everything fit. Not that tough of a project...

Car was a 390 column shift c6 changed the column for a collapsible one and floor shifter.

What collapsible column did you use?
Was it a easy fit?

If you are going to do the "stock" conversion, there is a "stock" shift rod for the C6. They are often on epay. To add to that you need the "blister" that bolts to the floor and allows the floor pan to be cut out for shift rod clearance and mount the stock floor shifter. Then you can use the factory console ( with buckets) or make a custom cover for the shifter. I've done both in the past. you will also need the jumper harness to hook up the lights and neutral safety switch. Mine is on the shifter itself. or use the switch that bolts to the transmission. As Jay mentioned You can fabricate a custom rod using the original rod with some cutting and welding. I had to do that for the floor mounted bench seat '66 wagon I did years ago. My current '67 Ranchero uses all "stock" parts and buckets.

Brogeson's power steering box xy falcon column shaft you need to change the coffee pot too from a column to a floor shift. I got a manual column and clutch peddle box with my fairlane when i imported it. I had to make a new shaft bush for the bottom of the column

That is very interesting how long ago was that conversion done? how do you go with the console shifter being slanted to the left so much. I have not got a console yet none of the yanks want to ship a good one to Australia. I made a small console and used a 69 mustang shifter for now since i still have the bench seat in it. Did you put retractable front seat belts in too?

Hi Jb. Conversion was done about 25 years ago. Shifter is not a problem & I have customised the gating to be able to 'bang' shift without going to a cable shifter, which I hate & loosing the console. I dont think the shifter slants to the left at all, just the console. Car has no seatbelts at all. As I have got older & got grandkids I am starting to think it might be a good idea. Just need to work out an elegant solution.

I was lucky that the laws had changed about pre 1970 left hand drive car's no longer need to be converted. I too am stumped on how to do seat belts and make them look good.

I have a couple of ideas, but I have bigger fish to fry at the moment.
