Title: Any Sunbeam Tiger people here?
Post by: thatdarncat on May 05, 2018, 02:19:05 PM
I ran across some Tiger body parts today someone has, hood, trunk lid, doors, nose ( or do I have to say bonnet & boot? Lol ), average condition, some rust. I'm aware of what the cars are, how is the market for body parts? I'd think they're a bit scarce, but maybe not? Does this stuff turn up? Should I grab it because there isn't much out there? Go ahead and give me your thoughts.

Pretty sure all the pieces that you listed are identical to the much more common Sunbeam Alpine the Tiger was based on.

I think you're probably right, although I'm no expert. The structure of the car seems to be where the difference between the two lies. I'm guessing even 50 year old Alpine parts probably aren't real common anymore, but I don't know. I was checking production figures, looks like roughly 10 times more Alpines made.

The unique parts to a Tiger would be valuable. There are plenty of differences since they were not built alongside Alpines. The Alpine panels were sent to Pressed Steel Limited and they completed the bodies, they made the side trim and the different firewall and floorpan.
Pressed steel also made my Consul Capri and made Volvo P1800's before those were made in Sweden.(becoming the P1800S)

Even the Alpine panels are not easy to find so it would be worth saving from the scrap heap.

I should have bought some P1800 when they was just

There was a few Consul Capris in the villages around here
Remember a friend had a later Capri and needed something
He somehow got a lead on the parts he needed and called the nr
no problem he had the parts
So me and my friend go there to this village found the house
with some capris here and there
And there was this ......Gay BDSM big leather guy...Called him self
for the Baron, Imagine us two guys 18 and this big guy in his 40s
with chaps leathervest some jockstrap or what you call it
Grabbing his junk and and said.  Ohhh with such handsom cute boys
like you im sure we can come to an agreement...when the friend asked
about the price :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I guess you haven't bought any Capri parts then ;D The friend with the Capri
was teased for years after about Capri owners sexual preferences ;D ;D

Maybe i'm just lucky. I've managed to find several early Capri parts without getting bent over!  :-*

Or perhaps I just don't recall much after the "Cosby pills" wear off.
