Title: Dropped a head on the floor

Putting the heads on my 428 and one of them got away from me and landed on my foot and then the concrete floor.As I sit here recovering from a nasty foot gash, Im curious if I should get the head magnafluxed again? ......right about now I'm wishing I had bit the bullet and got aluminum heads!!!!

The head is most likely OK   But I would have that foot checked for cracks

Had the same thing happen with a cj head. Landed on my big toe coner first. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain and throbbing. Managed to close my shop down and went home to pull my boot off thinking it would be a bloody mess. The wife pulled the boot of and nothing, just a bruzed big toe. Had to wear sneakers for a couple days but the toe wasn`t broke. The had was fine by the way!

Wow, that hurts just thinking about it.

 I like to roll the short block around so the deck is parallel to the floor before I lay the head on.  If the motor is already in the car I like to drop the top center bolt in and turn it a thread or two in before letting go.   Always made me feel like I might be a little paranoid about dropping a head but now I think maybe it isn't such a bad plan.  But it isn't just about dropping the head either.  I was also trying to minimize the chances of scratching up the teflon surface of the head gaskets.

 Glad you guys weren't hurt any worse than you were, I wouldn't be surprised at the loss of a couple toes with that kind cast iron/concrete action.  ouch ouch ouch

Quick thinking to get the foot under the head to protect the head. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

To add insult to injury.....
Went to Doc today for follow up visit and my Iron level is low due to the amount of blood I lost.
She recommended I get some Iron pills.
The name of the pills?........"Slow FE"!!!!!!
