Even after I put my new fuel system in still had some problems with the car on Friday, there
Was no shortage of help, between about 8 to 10 guys and me we tried multiple things and it got better and better and we worked on it till about 9:00 at night. By Saturday it was running good enough that I was able to make some half way descent time trial runs. Car ran better and better as Saturday went along, good enough that I made it to the finals and broke out by 2 hundreds of a second and the guy I
Raced broke out by 1 hundreds of a second. COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU GUYS. I
Brought my dad and the ride home all he could say is he met some of the nicest people ever.
Thanks Steve,Ed,Cotton,T bird guy(willing to give me a bunch of springs and bushings I forgot home)
Larry (offering a pair of carbs to try)another older gentleman that use to race a 65 galaxies as a kid and a bunch of other guys that I don’t remember there names. Well I could go on but had a great time
Rain delays and all. New owner is a nice guy also.

Congrats on staying the course!
Great effort and a successful race day go hand in hang.
-
Congrats!! That's a darn sight better than the year you had least year! I was watching the end of day races on the live feed, and was able to catch all the finals. I thought that was your car but it was kinda hard to tell for sure with the shaky video quality. To come back after fighting problems like that is just awesome!
-
Thanks for the short block Barry and it was good to see you again.
Thanks Doug wish the weather would have been better so you could have made it
But it is a far trip for a maybe. It was a rough go for a little while but like I said everybody
Chipped in.
-
Great job!! Wished I had a better weekend of racing but was glad to offer my assistance.
I was down with Cotton helping him work through his issues. Then to Bill Troth to help get his car running. I did keep busy!
Was glad to meet up with everyone. I gripe about the drive over but I always want to be there.
-
Thanks Larry I was in the middle of my mess and tried to help him while I was working on my car I sent him over to you to read his plugs, didn’t think you would mind, he was a really nice guy and nice kids also
-
Joe,
It was pleasure pitting next to you at the Race and Reunion! Your car is awesome and your family is fantastic. I hope that we are able to get together again before next year's event!

So you are the guy I was talking to from Long Island with the beautiful green 67 fastback and equally beautiful daughter .
Nice to put a face with a name. You did well, great to see that.
-
Thanks Tom it was nice to meet you to see ya next year.

Cotton was making headway when the rain started Saturday. I never did see him make the third time trial or how it ran. It came down to severe lean condition was causing most of the problems. I started with jetting it back up and reinstalling the power valves(he had jetted it down instead of up after removing PV). I had him put his air cleaner back on to cut down on the ram air effect of the hood scoop. With only a 5/16" fuel line, stock pump and that 850 HP, it was just not getting enough fuel at the top half of the track. I figured the air cleaner might richen it up and actually make it run faster overall? I told him about upgrading the fuel system to at least 3/8" or 1/2" line and big(ger) pump.
He asked for my contact information Saturday, but we got separated and I never gave it to him. Super nice guy, with back issues(like me) and his kid has to do all the work for him right now.

Long Island Stangman?, I was there 15-20 years ago to Scott Shafiroff
when he had his shop in West Babylon i think it was? In the middle of the grave
yards ??? Beautiful area along the coast there
-
yes long island Stangman, There was a guy from Germany there Heo maybe you can get down here next year
-
Yes I really need to go to USA, I need to buy heads and some other parts.
I save more than the price of the flight if i Carry them home by my self.
And probably there is vendors at the reunion that have the parts i need.
If it was a little later so the summer had started i had told the wife to
pack the bags and gone this year. And had a couple of weeks vacation
-
Not maybe, he IS going or we have to go the Germany and drag him there.
Was that the graveyards behind and beside S&K ? I noticed Babylon seems to be right there beside Lindenhurst. They told me Shafiroff shut the shop, I had hoped to go there.
We are going to Simeone Museum tomorrow, went to Hershey to the chocolate museum and AACA one. Wow, that Tucker collection is amazing. They also had a 70 Merc California fuzz car with 428PI to keep this on topic.
-
yes there is a graveyard neaxt to it. They just redid the place a few years back there was also one in Rockville center
that they closed and made this one nicer. Colin is the guy that runs it. Shafiroff is still in business he was big years ago with all his big block chevy stuff. Then you didnt hear much about him and now hes busy again building everything.
-
Hard to drag me from Germany I'm1000++ miles north of that :D in north of Sweden
If the weather is bad i just tell the wife...But TomP told me the weather will be sunshine and warm
don't blame me ;D
Long Island was nice in June i really liked it there
Yes Shafiroff was only doing BBC then. A really nice guy and nice wife to
-
OK, maybe drag you to Germany first then! :P
-
:o Heo worldtour 2019,,, must order t-shirts then ;D ;D
-
i will buy a shirt

Speaking of north of Sweden, on the Sunday after Beaver Springs we were looking for another track to go to see a race, Numidia was cancelled because of cold and wind but the weather reports on the news were saying snowstorms northeast of that. Did you get snow on Long Island? Also does your boss live a couple hundred miles from the dragstrip he runs? (South Mountain)
-
Hey Heo, speaking more of Sweden I saw a news story last week proudly proclaiming that Sweden was going to be "fossil fuel free" in a few short years. You're just gonna drive your battery operated Galaxie 500 over a charging grid while tooling down the highway ???. Is this for real over there, have they gone that far over the climate change cliff or do you just figure like me that someone big is seeing big dollar signs?
-
Yes Tom he lives on the island I go up there like 2or3 times a year
I was going to go there after beaver springs but my wif had an operation
Like 6 weeks ago and she asked me to come home didn’t want to get the
Boss mad.

Lenz it is like stupid crazy in this country now. The salladcomunists (Treehuggers) that got
six percents of the votes rule this country >:( Cant go in on the whole catastrophe
without getting political. But each day we came closer and closer to a civilwar
The price on illegal guns have quadrupled the last year
The primeminister (socialist) had said even if he looses the election in September he wont stepdown...
Oh the pics on the AJS it rained all day so i trie to take it out tomorrow
-
I would guess they don't consider Methanol, Propane and Nitromethane as a fossil fuel so maybe you won't need to swap a Tesla drivetrain in.
Gas in far west Canada is now approaching Nitromethane prices ...$1.61 a litre regular and $1.85 a litre for Premium here today.... x 3.78 for US gallon and x 4.54 for Imperial gallons. Same deal, the Greens got in power but splitting their votes with the other losing party.
-
We got about the same prices :(. There is this Company here up in north of
Sweden, that make gas and diesel fuel out of waste from the logging industri.
But it doesent matter those treehuggers hate cars as such. Its not about the enviroment
even if there was a car that cleaned the air as you used it they would try to stop it
