The weather has been horrible so far in April. However the outlook for the Reunion looks much better. Forecast now is for mid 60's and only a slight chance of rain each day.
-
I asked my Wiener dog today about the FFR weather. She said not to worry, it's going to be sunny & warm. Usually she's more accurate as the big forecasters. SO... BRING SUNSCREEN.
-
Ya Ohio forecast is 60's next week and sun. I can only hope!!
-
We need the FE Gods to look down on us

And then calling for temps dropping into the 50s with chances of rain towards the end of the week. >:(
This has been one hell of a miserable Spring so far.

Yep, just keep your eye on those massive low pressure systems dropping down to Arizona on the left coast and drifting across. Looked like a day in January here yesterday with another 4" of snow. Brine and similar road "chemistry" is keeping the fun stuff in the garage to keep the rust demons at bay. It's going to be a no spring year, hope the switch gets thrown soon.
-
I hope that "you guys" can turn that weather around. We want good air but not rain delays, warm enough to not need a jacket. Work on that! :P
Here in the western Great White North it's a nice sunny day around 70 degrees.

The weather here has been so crappy for so long that I keep thinking there just HAS to be a stretch of good weather coming up. Finally was able to get the car out last weekend, get the oil changed and take it for the years first shake-down run. Too cold to work out in the garage, so it's been a few hours here and there to get things ready. Still keeping the fingers crossed though, because it's too far away to predict with any certainty yet.
In prepping for the event, I got tired of having to stop every 1 1/2 hours for gas in my car hauler, so I installed a 100 gallon fuel transfer tank in my bed and am plumbing it into the main tank so I can refill while going down the road. Kind of anxious to try that out. If my math is correct, I should be able to make it all the way to Beaver Springs and almost 1/2 the way back home before having to get gas. Yeah, I know, visions of the van in Gumball Rally come to mind :)
-
Doug my F350 can get to beaver and half way back on 36 gallons, the dam dodge gets half way there and I have to fuel up to get there. The on the way home I fuel again at the same fuel stop and come home. That truck holds 40 gallons. I won`t be there this yr due to both truck needing work and the trailer needing brakes. The 56 just needs to be started as its always ready to go. I`ll miss all you guys but next yr I`ll be better equipped.

Official Accuweather forecast is 62* fri. & sat. with a chance of showers both days. I once again asked the wiener dog about this, and she said no way will there be showers. She also said to watch out for that black and white '58 Fairlane. At 62* it will be flyin. Sunday it will be 68 & sunny, of coarse.
-
Give that dog a bone! I like that weather forecast!
-
Looked today and rain on Wed in Ohio, then 60 and sun through the weekend. Beaver has the same basic forecast. I'm loaded and ready to go! Brian and I plan to get there Thurs afternoon.
-
I've been holding off because of the questionable weather. Today I finally took the exhaust off and loaded the car, changed the oil in the truck and checked it over and took the loaded trailer for a test haul to make sure everything was ok. Looks like the weather just MIGHT cooperate. Gonna get a late start Thursday though, so probably won't make it to Selinsgrove till late.
-
As of today Carlisle Pa which is just around the corner from Beaver Springs calls for 66* Friday and 61 for Saturday.
-
I'll keep a spot reserved Doug if you like. We are parking in the back row like before.

Since I won't make it to the area till about 11:00pm, I'm assuming the track gates may be closed and I won't be able to drop off the trailer Thursday night like I did last year. That might make it difficult if somebody else shows up. If you can, that'd be great, but if somebody beats me there and wants to park there, don't worry about it. I appreciate the offer either way, Larry.
-
I'm pretty sure we can make sure there is a spot for you. It's not like we are in the front row and holding 10 prime spots. No big deal, been doing this for a 23 years now.
-
Me and Rory are in New Jersey. Went to Atco for the Tuesday test and tune but they had cancelled it for a poor forecast before we got there. It was dry at 7:30 PM, ground wasn't wet. Oh well.
We will probably tour around tomorrow and half of Thursday before getting to Selinsgrove.
-
I'm about to officially throw in the towel. Current forecast is 60% chance of rain Friday, 40% chance Saturday. 20 hours on the road with my old rig, and hundreds of dollars, on the off chance I MIGHT get to make a couple passes just isn't going to cut it. Pretty bummed right now unless something changes over the next day and a half.
-
The local report looks iffy for Friday, but Saturday dropped to 20 % chance for rain, as drier air moves in. High of 63, so not real warm, but jacket weather.
-
Well since I`m not going to the Beaver I decided to go to the Canfield swapmeet on Saturday. My buddy Moose has several spots and gets me in for free with parking. I called him and he says bring a rain coat as they are calling for rain all three days. This spring has been a real PIA!
-
The old axiom: "You have to show up and make it rain on you" applies.
-
Is Sunday a built in rain date or is something else scheduled for Sunday.?
-
Well is it a 60% chance... or rains 60% of the day or rains 60% as hard as it possibly could all day?
They didn't run at Atco last night because of the forecast yet it was dry the whole time they would have run. Get that a lot at home where Mission cancels the Friday night street legal races because it is raining at noon yet by 5pm when it would start it is warm and sunny and the ground is all dry.
-
I'm doing this for you and Rory, Tom. Because if I don't go it'll be sure to be good weather with no rain :)
Because of this HUGE moisture front that is being held on the east coast, it is just damp, drizzly, rain, no rain and showers pretty much everywhere. So the chance is that, it might rain, it will rain, then it will stop, then it might start again, then it'll stop, then....you get the idea. Of course it's supposed to be beautiful starting Sunday and all next week, which always seems to be the case. I don't think they will hold until Sunday, but even if they did, I have no choice but to leave Sunday.
-
I think for next year they ought to try and reserve the Friday/Saturday 3-4 weeks later. Every year it forecasts like this and we can't justify making a long haul. I know doing it on 4/27-4/28 is cool.......but a lot of FE's are in the 500+ cube range now ;D
-
Only 5 1/2 hours for me but I hear what your saying Doug. I’m not even 100 percent I fixed my problem from last year but I can’t not go. I do understand the whole money thing though. Besides how would you go the whole year without seeing your FE buddies :D 8)
-
Hi Doug
Just to let you know that we did cancelled our hotel. It seems to me this is a long ways from Menomonee Falls Wi. to go and watch it rain. Hopefully this is a blessing for the other racers that now it wont rain. Any way say hi to Trish from me and Mary and we will see you two next year since drag week is not around by us this year. If you go good luck and all be safe. Later
Dan
-
The forecast for this weekend changes about every two hours.
-
It's always a gamble, there's been a 60% chance of rain here all day and so far there hasn't been a drop.
-
Hi Dan,
Trish is pretty bummed because she always looks forward to seeing you two. We just cancelled our hotel as well. I got registered for Drag Week again this year, and my son will be going with me. Thanks for the well wishes. Hope to see you guys next year!
Keith, that's funny because here in east central Ohio we've had a 20% chance of rain and it's been raining/drizzling all day..lol Being a weatherman is the only job where you can be wrong 100% of the time and still keep your job :)
-
The local station is now saying rain for Friday AM, to end around 9:00 AM. Saturday partly sunny with a chance of late afternoon shower. High in the mid to high 50's. The forecast does change with time.
-
Rain or shine, I'm on my way in about 30 minutes. Got some really cool new stuff to show. Anybody know how late you'll be able to get into the track on Thursday? I'd like to dump the trailer at the track before heading to the hotel...
-
I don't have anything cool but I got a trunk full of junk and plan to be there..
-
Still have an engine to run on dyno tomorrow. As soon as he is buttoned up I will head out. Probably stop partway and arrive sometime Friday.
-
One of the reasons i have not been there no fun flying around half the world
to stand two days in freezing rain ???
-
Got my Comet in the trailer with the battery charging. I figure rain or shine it will be fun. Like Barry I'm leaving after work tomorrow and stopping along the way. Should roll in for gate opening. I look forward to meeting you guys. I've been there 3 years in row but missed the last 2. Never stood in the cold rain, it was windy the last time. Today in Detroit it was 60 percent chance of rain. I got rained on driving to work then it got nice.
-
Well the wiener dog may be right. Cool tomorrow with rain showers in morning. Saturday may turn out fairly nice. A chance for an afternoon shower, high in low 60's.
-
I will miss this year i have made four the motor home needs some work and i can not get two days of good weather to work on it.
-
We are here at Comfort Inn... nice weather, too warm for my flannel shirt!
Had a great day. went to the bar for lunch with Ray Barton, spent couple hours with Leonard Long getting the grand tour and went all around Maple Grove Raceway. Went to S&K Speed on Lawn Guyland yesterday and had pizza in SoHo, so foggy we couldn't see the seventh floor of Empire State Building or even see the Statue of Liberty at all.

It is warm and sunny here the evening before. Yesterday we had biblical rain, fog then sun, a race night have been delayed, not stopped. Today didn't match the forecast from yesterday.
Rain at 5am that is all dried up at 8am and starts again at 7pm is a correct forecast... they don't know, it's still a pin the tail on the donkey science.
Don't be a wuss... get on that plane!! :P That goes for the rest of ya..
-

Did you bring Canadian beer?
-
I'm here. Great day for traveling. Just had some steak on the grill for dinner! About 40 cars here already. Let the fun begin.
-
Ay, cannot bring beer through the airport security... unless in 3oz shampoo bottles... then it tastes soapy. ???
So Kevin, I see two trucks with Minn plates here, is the red one with a trailer yours?
-
OK, it is a little damp out... :-\
-
Yeah, radar doesn't look real promising today. Looks like there's a chance it may clear out by tomorrow, even though they're still calling for rain. Hopefully it'll push out and you'll get to see some good racing tomorrow.
Hey Tom, climb up that pole and turn the damn live feed camera around so we can see the action! ;)
-
I would have mooned you on it! :P
What an excellent day. I feel stupid for buying that $3 WalMart umbrella that I didn't hardly use.
-
Had a good day. Sorta. Got to see Tom and meet Rory. Along with hundred of people. Only problem....I broke the transmission on the first pass. Traction was good for me, stood it up nicely. Hit fifth and it chunked third also and scattered it up. Oh well. Life goes on. I knew there was an issue with the shifter and I should have addressed it first. Some times I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack.
-
Yep hanging with Larry is cool. I am just going through pix and have a decent one of that one aborted run...

This was the shootout semi, it was full dark for the final and my pic didn't turn out.

-
Dang, sorry to hear that, Larry. If I remember right, you chunked it last year (not at the Beaver). Hope you get 'er fixed soon for the race season.
-
We have had a few little showers here tonight. Makes for good sleeping when your camped out in your car, just as long as there gone by morning though.
No regrets..
