How dirty did YOU get during the transformation?
-
Nice! Got enough leftover oil from cleaning to fill her back up again with it! ;)

$500 worth of Castrol SuperClean later!

haha! It actually wasn't that awful. Laid some trash bags down on the garage floor and took the scraper to it. My new favorite trick is WD-40 and scotch brite pads for cleaning things. The oil had turned into this semi-hardened sort of stuff that flaked off like chewing tobacco. No, I didn't try to chew any of it.

Yep, we just talked about cleaning with kerosene, cheap and effective. WD-40 gives the advantage of a mini pressure washer in the tight places. "High garage tech" stuff everyone has too. The tranny looks great!

Amazes me how the oil plus dirt covering preserves the stuff underneath like the painted letters.

I was going to mention that also. Leaking engines are the best automotive preservative ;D

As we say here, the only thing on a Opel
that s not rusted out is the front crossmember ;D
