Title: innovators west inc. damper
Post by: chris_r on July 26, 2012, 02:10:05 PM
Has any one used a innovators west damper ? I was going to put one on my new fe build and its almost .002 to small on the ID. I checked the snout on the new scat steel crank its perfect. I'm thinking hone it to fit. So what do my fe friends think?

I got one of those to fit a CJ crank because the snout was a bit small and the stock damper was just a slip fit.  The IW damper had a smaller ID so could be honed to fit correctly.  I would hone the damper for about a .001" interference fit.

I have one on each of my engines.  The damper hub is steel rather than cast iron like the factory, so it doesn't stretch as easily as the factory pieces.  I had to have mine honed out a bit to be able to get over the Scat crank snout  The spacers also had to be shortened to get the proper alignment.  They are a good bunch at IW, and will do whatever it takes to get the parts the way you need them.
