Looking for an original R servo for C6 tranny
-
I'm sure you know this, or may not. The factory R servo trans is special to CJ cars and possible some PI stuff. The case for the R servo trans is not the same as a regular trans. And the R servo will not go in regular case. Now Ford made and sold a aftermarket R servo years back , and I can not speak on that as I do not know anything about those.
-
Yes it’s the original VIN trans from my 70 GT500 with cast iron tail.
I’m guessing the R servo was swiped 30 years ago when I had tranny rebuilt. Back then all I cared about was my ET slips and paid no attention to the letter on the servo cover.
I’ve been looking for a year or so but have not seen one for sale. Wondering if these things show up once in a while.
-
Rarely. Too many people are looking for them and the price has gone through the ceiling. I sold the Ford Motorsports version ( "R" on the cover BUT no part number) for almost $300 years ago. I know guys that have bought a trans just for the servo.
-
Since I have been fooling with CJ stuff, which is not near as long as someone like Randy. You will see more complete CJ trans than you will the R servo by it self. Unless you just stumble up on one, that some one removed or better yet find a busted case and rob it. Keep looking as you never know what will turn up!

I had a C6 out of a 1970 Lincoln with a 460 that had a big R on the servo.
Would that be the same, similar or something completely different and meaningless?
A friend of mine still has it I think.
-
That's the one ! Odd that it would be in a soft shifting Lincoln , but anything is "possible".

If you feel like putting bug in your friend’s ear, I’m on the hunt. Thank.
-
Pretty sure I have one tucked away- what's the going price range?
-
I’ve not seen one for sale since I’ve been searching (3-4 months) so I don’t have a baseline. I saw 300.00 mentioned earlier in this post.
-
That was a Ford Motorsport part without the original Ford part number , just the big R. Some would consider it less valuable , I did when I sold it despite being NOS.

If you’re interested in selling it, perhaps we can negotiate agreeable price. If you get chance to click a couple photos, I’d appreciate it and will make an offer.
Thanks

I bought an aftermarket piece from Superior because I am not concerned about originality on my '67 Ranchero.

Still looking for mine

428kidd, Thanks for the eBay link. I had put the hunt for R servo on back burner while I was finishing the CJ motor rebuild. But looks like an opportunity at an R servo (if I can get my household budget to agree to the purchase). I’ve learned it’s easier to negotiate with the “household” after a glass of wine....or three. Those darned households. :o
