Title: CNC Alloy Eagle Emblems
Post by: 66FAIRLANE on July 11, 2012, 11:58:00 PM
Wouldn't it be really cool if someone (still trying to think who?) could CNC some eagle emblems with any chosen displacement? ie 445 etc.

Just thinkin.

Those emblems are die cast, aren't they?  It would actually be kind of a challenge to write the program that would machine them.  Not a near term project for me, unfortunately...

Hi Barry

Just thinking out loud at the moment. Fairlane needs a birthday soon and some displacement might be part of it. I am gunna run through this summer though. Just replaced my valve springs so good to go.

Still trying to find the time to come and have a look at your amazing Mustang, plus your other goodies. Hope to catch up soon.

Those are some very nice looking parts.  How much do they charge for them?

Title: Jay isn't there equipment that inspects a item and converts it to CNC program?

Having watched the complexity of manually creating a CNC program, it would knock hours off if it could be done all by der machine.  The noted emblem sure has that CNC look.

Several years ago, my crewchief Tom Caimotto arranged to do some plaques for Brother Lon's Mustang. These were done by color-anodizing the plaques and then ball-milling the emblems into them. If anyone is interested in such a thing, the company that did the work very likely still has the programs. I can check if you PM me or otherwise signify!
