Anyone put there hands on Mike's (Australian muscle parts) new FE belt drive yet ?. I have heard theres Pict's of it on his Facebook but I'm not on facebook so i was wondering if anyone had one yet and what they thought. I would guess its top notch, he makes some good stuff.

Seen the pictures, looks awesome. Can't remember but thought they were like 1400$ or 1800$ ? Way to much for this po boy.

Not sure the drive, except in all-out race engines, is worth the $ or effort. Jay's easy-to-change cam gear set-up and removable upper timing cover seems a much better idea for a few reasons. All chains stretch a tad after a few miles or hours. By making it easy to check but also advance the cam gear a tad afterwards, one can regain the exact timing one originally set the engine for. 'Course playing around with advance/retard cam positions after the chain has stretched is another great advantage to optimize engine/cam performance.
The belts I understand do stretch too but I had heard they don't stop stretching. After some usage, the fear that the cogs may start shredding (hey, face it, they ARE used in mighty high hp, high stress engines) forces a change to a new belt. That's methinks the reason NASCAR shops, which sell btw just about any part used, does not sell used timing belts as they are thrown away by the bucket load. Chains on the other hand, even in high hp engines, can be expected to last a very long time at zero$.
Just wish a cam gear and cover setup was readily available for my SBF's! Oh, well!

As all of you likely know, the cam on a 2.0-2.3 four-cylinder Ford engine is belt driven. I owned a number of Pintos and Mustangs with turbos and became familiar with them as powerplants. The Belts would start to become 'iffy' at about 50K miles. I changed more than one of them in a handy alley or parking lot---and once along-side the road with rush-hour traffic only several feet away.
One of the nice things about them is their ability to dampen harmonics.

I have one on the way. Wont make it in time for my build so I had to go back to the chain. but, when it gets here. I will put it on. $1105.00 was my total cost. Looking forward to it.

Definite eye candy when opening the hood of race car. Still a bit out of my price range......even with the complete lack of needing it with my lil pee pee flat tappet.

Received the Australian Muscle Parts Belt drive yesterday. This is one very nice setup. Adjusts the same way that Jays timing chain does so its basically an external belt version of Jays Chain setup. Machined and setup to fit with a stock water pump as well. Has seals on the crank hub as well as Cam sprocket hole. Worth the $1100.00 to me. Can't post pictures but, there are some out there.

The Danny Bee FE belt drive system has been around for at least 15+ years.
I know Keith knows about the Danny Bee system, and their website lists it at almost $1300, but this place lists it for $900. I don't know anything about the business, but it may be worth checking out.

That one looks like a 429-460 belt drive to me. Would be interesting to see if they stock the FE version, and what it costs...

Yep, that's the BB Ford version. Just before Christmas the best price I could find on the Danny B was $1,299.oo . The jesel was $1,599.oo .
Michael makes top notch stuff and is a awesome guy to deal with. I have to believe his drive is as good as or better than the others.
Hey faulk, I seen the write up and pics and vid of your ride on FE club, she definitely looks to be trucking dam well at that weight. I'm sure you will get her worked out pretty good this year.. !!!

Hey Keith, Thanks. William McCain did a neat job. That video is old. from the 466 and had just put the liberty in. Bunch of clutch tuning to get an idea. Hopefully a bunch better with 501 and getting a better handle of things.

Some years ago I looked into the Danny Bee set-up. The guy who answered the phone was snotty, told me there were none available, and they probably wouldn't make any more. In essence, I was told to go away and not bother them about parts for a 'dead' motor.
