Hey guys,
After watching many of the videos posted of the previous FE reunions I was sorry I had missed the gatherings. Looking at the Beaver Springs website it looks like the event will be on April 27-28 (29th rain date). I'm planning to go this year.
Who else is going?
-
On my "to go" list. I drove over in a snowstorm a few years back. As long as Saturday weather is promising I make the trip.
Last year was the nicest weather so far. Previous years were brutally cold.
-
I will be there, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
-
I hope to be there
-
I plan on being there with the Mach, for the 3rd year in a row, weather permitting. If the weather is looking nasty, I may back out though. It's a 10 hour drive for me in a 48 year old truck (although Larry has me beat in that department).
-
I`m going. Thrashing on the car right now. waiting on some parts

Ya, even at 59 yrs old I got cruise control, air conditioning, power steering................
-
Unless something happens that is unavoidable I will be there. Already booked hotel.

You don't Have to race, if you are not into it, but there is a car show. Scott runs the car show, and it is nice too see alot of cars, does not have to be a fire breathing 427. A nice old 332,352,390 is fine. We all just enjoy seeing those old Ford's and talking FE's.
-
I'm planning to go. I've been to two and had a great time. It's about a 700 mile tow for me from Chicago suburbs but well worth it.
-
I will be there!!

Oh, I'll be there. Right now I am thrashing away on my '64. Bought it in"76 & never had it on the road. Put a '65 Merc 390 in it in '77 & was last run in '94. Amazingly enough, drug it out of the shed , filed the points, some fresh gas from a jug & off it went. So...I pulled the heads off, everything looked ok so I thought I would freshen it with a set of redone c4 heads, a used thumper cam I had laying around, a flock of ducks & some cast shorties. Bad news was I didn't have enough p to v clearance, Clarence. Fixed that with my handy dandy horrible freight angle grinder. Sounds awesome, will it survive? who knows. If it makes it, I 'll have another diamond in the rough contender....again. :-[

My brother and I are getting the car ready. Hopefully weather will cooperate
In car from last year

I've made my arrangements but will be watching the weather as well.
Like Larry, one year I drove across 84 in NY through snow squalls....

Will be there. Actually working on the car instead of letting it sit for nearly a year between events. Nothing spends, but necessary work.
Fresh rings and bearings for the 433 engine (assembled the short block last night). Stuck in the larger cam from 2013(!?) when it made more high RPM power, putting the belt drive back on, considering swapping the toilet for the 4500 throttle body. Still need to keep it cosmetically looking like one of the EMC entries for the cool factor.
Did some horse trading and parts swapping to put a bigger gear in the rear end, and upgrading the brakes. Tempted to put a shorter tire in the rear since its at tugboat rpm through the traps but damnit I like the look of the big tires back there 'cuz thats what I wanted when I was a kid...

Just don't leave your laptop at the motel. ::)

Just don't leave your laptop at the motel. ::)
That was a couple years ago. :)
Just made passes with the tune that was "in there"...
Not like I am really trying to go rounds, but the data would have been nice to have.
FWIW - the O2 sensor must be defective and lying' to me - mixture was reading OK, but the thing was full of soot, so its gonna get a new sensor and leaned out a bunch. Maybe it will make eighty gazillion more horsepower and run crazy fast. Even better is if it just goes down the track without any drama.
-
I am trying like hell "again" weather permitting to make it. so please god let the weather be good!
-
have you been working on your shifting , Barry ?
-
Is there space at the track to park a camper? It's a 1957 GM 4104 bus and old Greyhound. There are a few things to do, but I think I can get it ready to take down. Do they charge for parking a camper? Do I need to reserve space ahead of time?
thanks,
Mark

Flying in from California, I'll be there.

Yes, they do have primitive camping, or what they call Boondock Style. All the info you need can be found here...

Plenty of room for a bus, Mark. If you get there early, you might fit back where I park(and Doug and Brian). Get on Google Maps and look at the satellite picture.
We park in the next to last row, in with those trailers that are sitting there now.

I'm planning on going. First time out with my Comet, been trying to get it done every year for the last couple but always more work than expected. But I finally finished it up last fall. Haven't run it down a track yet so I'll be green. I'm slightly intimidated by it to be honest, may need some tuning and driving advice from the pros!
-
I was thinking of heading down over the course of Thursday. It's about an 8 hour drive for me. Will there be access on Thursday evening? Or, should I plan to camp out in a rest area and head in Friday morning? Larry, when do you plan to get there?

Looking Awesome Steve, glad you've been out and about! Hope to see you in person this year!......Al

Wowza Steve! Beautiful comet! My favorite year!
-
Last yr I got there Thursday and parked by Larry and Doug. I didn`t tow he car down but just camped and took in the sights. This yr I was planning on taking the Galaxie but its not going as well as I hoped. The backup is my 56 F100 with the 427 in it. I haven't taken that in 4 yrs but its always running and I will show it at the car show. I will go down Thursday again.
-
I know Bob doesn't really want the whole world showing up too early but I typically get there Thurs afternoon. Don't know what the new owner will allow? I know Bob still runs this event. It is 5+ hrs travel for me. I know Bob closed the gate about 5 pm so any later and you have to wait to get in Friday. There is a little parking outside the gate for a few vehicles.
-
Thanks for the good compliments! I've been putting that Comet together for 4 years? Not as nice as a lot of cars that go to the FE Reunion but it's respectable. Hope to run 11's maybe? I have an 8 hour drive too, I'll be trying to roll in Friday morning if I can leave at 2 am be there at 10! Last time I went to Beaver Springs was a couple years ago brought my 65 Galaxie. Truck caught fire on I80 on the way home and I ruptured my Achilles tendon pushing it away from my trailer! Saved the car but took a year and 2 surgeries to put the tendon back together. Looking for a trouble free tow this year! Got a bigger fire extinguisher too!

So you're THAT Steve!..lol I remember seeing the burnt asphalt mark on the side of the road, and the pictures afterwards. Not pretty, but I'm sure glad you managed to save the trailer and car. I'm sure that wasn't easy to move!
-
Steve....ugh, I remember that. As I drove home I saw the spot on the road and knew something bad had happened, but didn't realize it was you til I got home and read online what happened.
-
Yep that was not a good day!
-
Yup I remember seeing the posts. My son and I were about an hour ahead of you heading home with out broken Galaxie. Not a good yr at the beaver.
