Title: Pushrods
Post by: Arizona ‘58Mercury on February 04, 2018, 10:23:19 PM
Just got a set of factory Adjustable Rocker assembly’s for my 390.  So I need the cup and ball pushrods.  What companies do you recommend?  I have see 2 different diameters as well as a few different lengths that they say are stock.  I don’t have the pushrods for the existing motor to measure.  It is out of a ‘65 Tbird and has C4 heads if that matters.  Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thank you.

Smith Brothers (800) 367-1533) has unbelievable customer service. When you call, they will explain how to measure to get the correct length pushrods. FE engine parts will have the possibility of a dimension stack-up depending on just what you are using and any prior machining.

You'll be glad you dealt with them.

x2 on Smith Brothers. Trend is another good one, but like Ken said, Smith Bro. has outstanding customer service.

Sounds good, so the directions are measure from the cup of the lifter on base of the cam lobe up to the ball of the rocker assembly..  can anyone tell me what the factory wants the threads at for a start point?  Example: Like 2 threads showing out of the bottom of Adjuster.  Thanks

Not sure if you're interested...but I just posted a used set of Smith Brother ball/cup pushrods in the Classified Ads.

They have effective length of  9.13 (from inside bottom of the cup to the tip of the ball  (overall length is 9.312).

I used them on my near stock 428 with stock hydraulic lifters and adjustable rocker arms.

Not sure if they're right length for you...but thought I'd mention them.  They're in great shape but I no longer need them.
