The 408 stroker is out and the 482 is going in. It seems I need to get a transmission cross member for the c6. I also would like to know what the wires are for on the c6 transmission? I forgot to ask the guy after the rebuild. This photo is a test from a site I just found. It worked out pretty good and I'll post the site for you guys to try. Here is the tranny wires. The site is imgur.com I decided to repost all the photos.

Sounds like a great and fun build James.

The switch on the C6 is a neutral safety switch. If hooked up correctly it will only allow the car to be started in Park or Neutral. It also usually controls the backup lamps.
-
Btw for setting up the switch, there's a procedure in the Ford shop manual. If set up correctly, as Kevin says the car will only start in Neutral or Park and also the backup lights will be illuminated.
When putting my car back together a few years ago I just bolted it back on and the backup lights didn't work. When I went thru the procedure (a correct size drill bit is inserted in the switch to align it) everything worked as it should.

More pictures and more questions. First the questions? Is this a good starter to use or should I get an msd ignitions starter. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pwm-9506/overview/make/ford Do these two starters come with two wires? What harmonic balancer do you recomend? I'm not going with serpetine stuff. Regarding my flex plate what bolts do I need to buy?

The only problem is with the headers, however my mechanic is very smart and knows how to fabricate, i.e cut and weld headers to fit. Today I brought him over the c6 to be put in i.e mocked up. And what about the electric water pump, what should I get and do I need adapters? Thanks!

Will this work for my application and is it good deal? Secondly, do I have to worry about how many teeth are my flywheel? Thanks! https://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-FE-390-428-3-Bolt-4HP-Standartd-or-Automatic-Starter-Motor-/292171692662 I just thought of something else? The starter on the 408 had two wires, I don't know about this one or does it make a difference?

Ok the motor is almost ready for installation. Please notice jay's shinny and sparkling new water pump brackets. I also have a question? I have comp cam 260/260 @50 with 28" diameter tires, 10" wide, with 350gears what size torque converter would you recommend, it's a c-6. The power band for the motor is 3000-7000 rpm's. Thank You!
-
I'd be looking at a 10" converter, with about a 3500 RPM stall speed, should work good with that cam. Nice water pump setup ;D ;D

Thanks jay. I have another question about the size of the "pilot" on the conveter. I've seen 1.84 and a 1.32. Which should I use? This is a better picture of the motor and your brackets. https://i.imgur.com/6QUFM2M.jpg

I think standard FE is 1.848". Measure the hole in the back of your crank to be sure.
-
Some after market cranks are 1.50".ALWAYS measure first.

Here's an update on my first project. The headers and mufflers are in. Just have to attach the shifter cable and connect the electric cutouts. The headers were custom made to fit and I think they look good. https://i.imgur.com/PJjRSG1.jpg

Well the car is at my main mechanics place and is almost done. We did a little mockup with the carb to make sure the hood would close and there is plenty of inches for the air clearner to fit. I love those new valve covers and especially jay's brackets for the water pump.

As a side not a young kid fabricated the headers from scratch and did a wonderful job and charged me $800.00. All the underneath of the car is completely done. "https://i.imgur.com/pfJDvpJ.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" />
Also the mufflers are in and the cutouts are now connected but not in this photo. "https://i.imgur.com/PJjRSG1.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" />

Here's an update of my 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint. I know it's been a long time but as you all know these things do take time. There is one little glich with regards to the fuel line with the regulator is slightly longer on the inner flared connection where it connects to the 950 carb. Even the directions say it suppose to fit but it does not. Please look at the second photo and enlarge, you will see the line is about an inch beyond the connection. You should also know that it has a full roll cage. I think it's a 12 or 14 point cage. Any ideas? Thanks!
