What would be a good price for a standard, unhurt, excellent condition C4AE block?
TIA

$250

seriously? Thought these were "rare and in demand".

Not so much any more. Many of the c3 and c4 blocks had lots of core shift, thin cylinders with spider cracks. I have had 2 that were basically junk. Have had a couple good ones as well. Hoping to have another good one soon depending on how the sonic comes back.
Now if you have a favorable sonic map then the price goes up. Jmo..

This is the only c3 block i have ever seen this way. No exstra webbing around #2 main. Thought it was kinda odd.

Looks like maybe this block is the same way... extra webbing on third and fourth...
This guy wants 400 for the block. I thought it was a good deal but I guess I'll pass.
Thanks Keith.

Well, yeah they are cool if you want to use factory crossbolts.
Otherwise as mentioned, most are a gamble.
Plus the mounting points kinda limit them to 64 and earlier Fords. I have a C4AE and D4TE block stashed, they are nice to have, but I wouldn't overpay for one. In my case, the C4AE block came in a parts car I bought. The D4TE block I did buy ($200), but it had been magged, cleaned, inspected before I got it, so I consider much of the value being in that.
Hehe the C3AE block that was used to build my stroker had a few tiny cracks, well not cracks perse we weren't really sure what the heck they were (probably cracks). Also had a mystery leak that disappeared around a core plug (probably a small crack that got sealed with rust), ohh and it had a sleeve we (Brent) didn't know about until the block was decked. I think this sort of thing is probably more common than not.
To be totally honest, I have two vehicles, and will continue to only have two vehicles. If I ever did a engine build again I think I'd just buy a BBM block and be done with it.... yeah it would add another 6-7 months to the build timeframe, but who cares, it's just dirty paper. Heck, I shoulda done that for the stroker build, just cuz.

I think I'm going to pass on this block and just follow my original plan. I was going to do a "phase 2" n/a engine this winter and just stick a cam in the current one and run it for now, but I've gone so far on the current one I think I'm going to skip the phase 2 engine and go straight to the blower engine. That means just getting the BBM block and be done with it. No sense in spending any other money on anything else at this point.
Thanks for all the input.
If anyone is interested, this guy has a C4AE block, C4 crank, C3 rods, C4 heads, etc. all for 500.00. He's in Lafayette IN.
