Title: Ford's crate engine installation instructions: good read.
Post by: machoneman on September 24, 2017, 07:22:18 AM
Found this lookin' around. Most would apply to any Ford engine and is quite thorough.
It's for a Boss blocked 460 CID SBF but much is worth the read.

Hydraulic roller lifters work better with thicker oil as I understand it.

Not all of them.  Morels don't like viscous oil.

What kind of lifters does the Ford crate engine have?  I've never run hydraulic rollers, probably never will.  But, I think that is why they recommend 10W40 for their crate engine.  But, that's good to know about the Morel's.   What viscosity do you run in them?

The PDF shows OEM style lifters with a spider and dog bones.

I try to stay at 30W hot viscosity and under with Morels.
