Title: 390/410 piston ID?
Post by: My427stang on June 05, 2012, 08:05:53 PM
Anyone know what piston a P-1513 is? Looks like stock replacement. 4 reliefs with center dish.

I am guessing truck or 410, sitting over .100 in the hole with a 390 crank

Clearly stamped on piston top, along with a logo sort of like a crown on its side

Thanks in advance

Looks like standard builder pistons, cast, 1.66 CH.

Listing says 360/390/410, if you don't care about quench or compression they fit anything :)

On the fence between adding a 428 crank or buying a cheap set of hypers to get compression and quench back.

We'll see how it unfolds, I am finding myself to be pretty tight on my cash with this iron headed 390.

Thanks for the update, Ross, it's been quite a while since I've looked at pistons like that...

Same here, 20 some odd years to be exact for me !

I think the plan is going to be, port the heads and get a good set of tight quench modern slugs in there.

The combination of going from 8:1 to 9.5:1, adding 40-50 cfm of flow, and the RPM should wake it up plenty for the pickup.

It ran good before, but now I know how it's set up, so I have to do something.
