Title: Missfire question
Post by: Galaxie352 on June 03, 2017, 06:22:08 PM
Hi.

This problem seems like it have followed mee on severeal car, and cant figured it out. start the car when cold, and it runs great. Starting when hot, and the car have been turned off about 10-15 min, it sounds like it missfire and then it will slowly start to run cleaner and perfect again. Timing is ok. Maybe a carb issue ?

i had the same thing happen about this time last year.ethanol in the unleaded fuel boils in your carb bowls when you turn your car off.you crank it back a few minutes later and it acts up till you get the bowls full again.if this is it you may have to use 100% gas or add some race gas with your unleaded when you fill up.this time of year some people and some pumps still have winter grade fuel in them, which has additives that makes it easier to boil.i could see it bubbling threw the sight windows on my carb

the carb insulators help with this problem , much better than I thought they would . put 1/2 inch thick on mine and made a noticeable difference
