Scrap yard owner might pick one up but he only dabbles in SBF, he's primarily a Chevy guy. He knows I'm FE's only and I get 6 to 8 a year from him
The story of this 429 is: running Industrial engine (?)
Should I ball park it at $400? not sure if it's a 2 or 4bbl. or how complete it is. I'll ask Monday when I pick up 2 more FE's
He will trade parts for it. He always asks me for advice when it comes to Ford stuff.

i have a 429 thunder-jet engine.it has canted valves.i dont know if there is a demand for the thunder-jets compared to the cobra-jet 429s or boss 429s.i have never seen anyone build one

As always, this stuff depends on where you live, but my opinion - it's worth about $100 max. There is some interest in the earlier high compression heads, but it doesn't sound like this engine has those. And 385 series engines are like FE's, a lot better aftermarket cylinder heads out there, not much reason anymore to use the iron heads. If it's a 429 you're not getting the more desirable 460 crank, there's about zero interest in 429 cranks. So you're getting a block and some misc parts. If you have a need for one and it's in nice shape, maybe worth more. Always worth checking.

All 429/460s use canted valves, same as the 351C/M/400 engines. Around here a 460 core runs maybe $250. Blocks are good to maybe in the 900HP area more or less, early 70s blocks maybe better. Maybe. I doubt an industrial 429 would have anything special about it, especially the cylinder heads. If buying one to hot rod, the stocker mid 70s heads are decent but for anything else you're buying a block. 514, 540, 559 CID is real common for displacement kits. Aluminum heads run rings around anything stock, even the CJs and such. For a Boss build that wasn't a museum period piece you'd buy John Kasse Boss heads and parts for use on a regular 460 type block. Your hundert dolla block now sporting a $10,000 head and intake setup LOL.

Talked to the yard owner today and he said it's got something like an 8 or 10 spd trans behind it.
Told him value was about $100 and he laughed because he said he'll probably get it as scrap anyway.
Sold him a 327 SBC long block and 4 spd T-10 and got 2 FE's for $75. That makes my day, came out $450 ahead.

Early 70's blocks like D1VE are nice, the heads D0VE are real nice for an iron head.
These can be stroked to 521 easily, the later D9 blocks have .200 longer cylinder bores and can use the 4.5 stroke for 545.
I think a 1970 429 is a super fun engine.

I remember i read in some Magazine in the 80s
someone that made a plate on top of the block
and sleved the cylinders on 429-460 blocks
and got a lot of inches he had one engine in a
70-71 fairlane/ Torino
