Any one that have tried to convert a C-omatic bellhoudin to a C4?
-
Did FORD make a bell housing for a C4 behind a FE ?
-
Not that i know about
-
You can buy C4 bell for FE
-
Yes you can, But why take the easy way out ;D
-
We use cruise-o-matic bell housings to put C-4s behind Y blocks all the time.. Basically it involves opening up the center to accept the C-4 pump then drilling holes so that the pump bolts mate the bell housing and tranny together

The dept on the C-O-M bell is right? figured that would be possible with a litle
lathe and mill job
-
For a Y block the distance is not right. That is overcome with a spacer and a crank bushing. You would need to measure for the FE, it is probably different
-
Yes i have asked a friend and he think he has a couple of C4 bells somewhere
so i can compare a C-O-M bell to a C4
You have spaced Betwen the bell and the block?
-
You could space the bell housing but then you would have to space the flexplate.. On a Y block we make an aluminum bushing to go in the pilot bearing hole and accept the converter . Then for a Y block we make a 4 steel spacers that bolts between the flex plate and the converter. It seems a little sketchy but mine has held up to 500 hp on my drag car One guy accomplished the same thing with an aluminum ring between the flex plate and converter. When you compare bell housing depths it will guide you on what you need.

Interesting since i have a few Y-blocks to
