Title: Any Old/Young Timers Have Any Idea What These Two Homemade Tools Are For?

These had been hanging on my wall for several years when in 2009 we bought our 58 year old house. No farms within 4 miles and we are boxed in town on a 1/3 acre lot. Before I became civilized we would get chickens with a coat hanger hook, not a this padded braded wire contraption. Homemade tools or some kids playing around making things. Ideas?

They look like tree stabilisers to me.
