I think my one piece eccentric came loose, i don't remember the longer dowel going into the oblong hole. I have a 2piece eccentric and i heard you can put a washer behing it to get the outer ring some clearance. I have a comp chain set. Im gonna pull the cover off this week and check it out. Do you think the 2piece will work with the washer behind it? Thanks

Just use a one piece eccentric. Readily available from Ford Motorsports (302 race part with 7/16 fastener hole). Easier, simpler and better all in one part.

Thanks Mr. Barry. I don't think my dowel goes thru to catch the eccentric. I think it is too short. I just have a hole in the sprocket. Can i get a longer dowel to tap in the hole and loctite?

I agree with Barry, run the single piece eccentric. I've heard of people having trouble with the two piece eccentrics. Those cam dowels are not hard to come by, they are a standard diameter (5/16"). When you get the engine apart pull the dowel out of the cam and measure the length. The ones I have here measure 1.5" long. If yours is shorter, just get another one from the cam company, McMaster Carr, Enco, any place. They are not hard to find.

Thanks Mr. JAY I have to get a 2in muffer clamp to get the crank spacer off. Is there a trick to get the dowel out of the cam. I should'nt have to pull the cam out i hope. Thanks for all the advice it helps alot!!

You shouldn't have to pull the cam out. Take off the timing gear, grab the pin with a pliers and it should pull out. It might come out with the timing gear...

Thanks Mr. Jay!
