I just found out today when my car restorer was doing a mockup that my c-6 transmission does not match (the bolt holes) with my 427 fe motor. I also cannot remember the year of my block? I think it might be a 64 block so I included a pic of some numbers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Transmission is for different engine type, could be for the 429/460 engine - oops.
Here is one of the first links that might assist.

You will need a round bell case for your FE.That looks as if it for a 385 series engine.

Thats a small block c6

Thankyou guys, I already got a line on where I can the right c6 for the car. I do have a second question? Who sells or makes a steering column with the u joint instalation kit to fit on a mustang two rack and pinion? Thanks again.

Another question? Would it be alright to use shorty headers on this 1966 mercury comet 427 fe motor with a c6 transmission? Shock towers are already cut with a mustang 2 front end suspension? And who sells them for this application? Thanks!

Ok I'm back with the same original problem regarding a c6 transmission. I said I found one but it is not the right one. I need a core or even the bellhousing like the following picture. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

That picture is of a 429-460 trans

X2 - that C6 will fit a 351M, 400, 385 Series (429-460). Not FE.

Listen falcon67, I really appreciate you posting the diagrams of the various C6's. I tried to find them myself but had no luck. I did find what I wanted yesterday and it will be delivered to my tranny guy in the next few days. Here's a pic and it's out of a 1966 thuderbird that had a 428 in her. I also included a pic of my 1964 Falcon sprint to a fellow Falcon owner. Thanks for your help as well as to the others.

If that trans is original to the car it's going to have a green dot valve body, which is '66 only. You need to source a '67-up VB; I'm pretty sure the one in the SB trans you already have will work. However, that orphans the rest of the SB trans, which somebody with a 351 might want.
Fun, huh? Get the FE trans apart and throw out some casting numbers from the case and the VB, and take it from there.

Also the 66's don't have the oiling hole in the back which needs to be drilled in the case from the bottom. Adding this as an edit - also the 66 (and maybe the 67's) won't take an R servo.

Very nice car - thanks for sharing that. Glad you were finally able to find what you needed.
