I met a guy yesterday who has an original 427 side oiler. The engine is complete and in very good confition. He said he has had it for a while and pulled it from the car 2 years ago. Has 20,000 miles he believes. What is something like this worth. This is all the information I have so far but will be seeing the engine in person myself next week and I will get pictures and all additional information needed. He is selling the engine to me if I want. Any ballpark ideas what its value is before I go check it out. Thanks.

I think you will find it is worth what someone will pay for it. Try to find another. You need to ask yourself what is the seller's motivation vs yours. If they want off it you can make an offer in the $2,000 to $3,000 range, assuming it doesn't need to be bored. If it is truly a clean block $7,000 is not out of the question.
Up here I saw one with an ear broken off the bell housing mount that went in a day for $2,500 Canadian. I sent the seller an email and it was bought sight unseen by someone.

I'm looking for $9500 OBO for my 1968 service block with 6090D heads, 4.25 bore, forged Wisecos, 390 crank and rods, Comp 280H, Offy intake, less than 500 miles on fresh rebuild.
I'm planning to list it here and CL around the end of next month, still need to pull it.
