Title: front coil springs

I am in the middle of pulling a 390 out my 66 Fairlane. A fresh build 427 0.20 over 487hp 514 ft lbs of torque going in, car has the big close ratio top loader, 389 diff, caltracs with adjustable rear shocks and stock leaf springs. What front coil springs and shocks do you guys recommend? I currently have after market big block with air coils in the car. Car is mostly street driven with a few visits to Keystone Raceway Park and a road trip to the FE Reunion at Beaver Springs. Thanks in advance.

If you want some front end rise for track fun, a lot of guys just use small block springs. That's what I use in my Mach 1. They work very well, especially compared to the big block springs I had in before, which gave no front rise whatsoever. If you find them a bit too "floaty" for the street, a set of adjustable front shocks will really help.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I'm looking for there isn't much give in the ones in the car now. Did you get them from a donor car or buy them new? If new what brand are they?

Looking good.  On the dyno I see; how did it do?

For my 69 Mach 1 I just bought new front springs for a small block Mustang from Napa; they work just fine.

Thanks Jay, I don't have a print out yet, 487hp., 514ft.lbs. I'm pleased with those numbers, can't remember peak rpm, old age factor, I will post the results when I get them.

I just bought new small block replacements. I can't remember where, probably from CJ Pony Parts I'd guess. They're pretty reasonably priced just about anywhere.

I'd strongly recommend the roller spring perches from Opentracker.
