I am going to look at a Mustang l as a possible acquisition. I have a question on the shock towers before I go look it over. I have not owned one before but the shock towers look different than my FE cougar almost like they were beat on or modified a bit. Is this someones attempt at making room? Supposedly a numbers matching 351W, 4 speed 4:11 car which of course would be replaced with an FE stroker. Car has been stored since 86 and is a restoration candidate. I have not contacted the owner yet but at the price he is asking I am sure it will not be around long.

Someone has beaten the crap out of those shock towers, they are fuller and rounder when stock.

Thanks Jay, I thought it looked like a sledge hammer modification.

Yikes!! Not only have they been beat on by what looks to have been a WWE wrestler with an IQ of about 20, but it looks like they've either been cut on and welded or that is a major crack around the top areas. Kind of hard to tell 100% by the pictures. Either way, either a full tower replacement or a custom cut back is in order. Those will NOT last long with an FE, if not repaired.

That's known as the BFH mod. I've found that a plasma cutter is a better tool for use in working on spring towers.
