Hi all, I have a brand spanking new BBM cast iron block that I need to get machined.
There are a few machine shops here in western Colorado that would probably do a decent job,
But I don't want a decent machine job, I want it done "perfect" . I have called around and no one has, or is Williamson no to buy a torque plate for honing it, and the one shop that I trust the most has to ship blocks out if they need alighn honed on the mains, he doesn't own a boaring bar. I'm guessing the blocks main bearing saddles are just fine, but I would like to have the option just in case.
So I'm contemplating just shipping the block to one of the fine builders on this forum, that way I know it will be done right.
So I'm wondering what the shipping costs might be from grand junction Colorado ? Just ball park so I can budget for it?
Who would you recommend to ship it with?
Thanks
Joe

Shouldn't be too bad to get it to Rob at Blue Oval in Denver. He helped BBM develop the block and is more than capable of doing anything you need.

You are 4 hours from Blue Oval Performance. I'd just drive there, I don't think you'll find many FE builders than are much better than Ricky and Rob.

Holeshot Hertel beat me again....

Wow, didn't know that, thanks a ton guys.
I'll actually be working near Denver soon, I'll just load it up and take it with me.

Joe at ASF machine in GJ speaks FE. He has FE torque plates also. He's done my Genesis block and my old 390 block a few times.

Face palm, I have read through your 504 high-boy build thread at least 3 times, it's one of my favorite threads. Not once did I notice that your trophy was from Grand junction . I also recognize the pickup and pump shop in one of the photos. Sent you a PM, I'll be contacting ASF when time and work allows.
My build will be somewhat similar to yours, except I'm shooting for 527 cubes and a somewhat milder cam.
I will be getting most of the components from Blair Patric, pro port heads, rotating assembly and cam.
Guess I need to contact Blair and get the rotating assembly on its way..
