Title: A real American hero has passed: Astronaut John Glenn at 95.

How sad, as I followed his exploits as a kid as did my classmates. May he rest in peace.

I didn't care at all for his politics, but there's no doubt that he was a heroic figure.

Again at Zero G and I'll bet he feels fine.  And the view is likely tremendous.  Watched him fly both times :)

somewhere I have a b&w pic of that 1st capsule that I took at the Smithsonian in 1966. Was a whole lot smaller than it looked on tv.

I remember the same thing about that capsule. I would never fit in that thing.
Also the technology of the day. Toggle switches did everything.
