Title: Stolen heads/rocker arms
Post by: ChiefDanGeorge on December 07, 2016, 02:24:47 PM
Not sure if this is the right forum, but thought I'd post on the chances of a long shot.
My house got broken into on 12/06 and they stole my Edelbrok 60069 Heads that I had on dining room table. Was test fitting the Harland Sharp rockers. I called all the aluminum recyclers around town and left word.
I'm in Columbia, SC and figure the use of a set of 390 heads is probably pretty limited. Have a Police Report filed and have started the insurance claim. I was all set to try and finish up build over the break.

That really sucks, I feel for you. I'll give you a couple thoughts - if you had the heads at a machine shop you may want to check if they routinely put any I.D. marks on them and if so, spread the word on that so they can maybe be returned if spotted. My machinist always stamps a code & date on the heads he works on so he can recognize them in the future, yours may have done the same. Likewise I've seen head porters I.D. their work. If you are on Facebook I would join Wes Adams Fe Facebook page - FordFEFanatics, and spread the word there too. Facebook has plenty of things people dislike, but one thing it does well is give people a way to share info around the world quickly. I've seen people recover stolen cars, trailers, lost dogs, etc. through posts shared across Facebook. People on Facebook then can also watch local "for sale" pages in your area, and local car club groups will get notified. And of course watch Craigslist, etc. I'll be hoping you get them back.

Yep, I've been searching on craigslist. Nothing so far. Emailed the local cruise in guys, but I suspect these things are gone.

Really hated to read this Dan- I'm with the previous posters on this one, I groan at things like Facebook but thieves can be pretty stupid and the need to become famous for being stupid often outweighs the risk for bottom feeders.  Hopefully by locating them or through insurance you'll be able to recover some of your loss.

ChiefDanGeorge pardon my being nosey but are the heads & rockers all that they stole?...............

The back steel wall of my friends Speed Shop was cut into with a Saw-zall . They used his inventory/boxes to build a tunnel across the warehouse to the power box and knocked out everything.  They very selectively stole stuff leaving high dollar parts beside parts they stole. Sadly he never found anything.

Yep it looks like that's all they had time to get. My neighbor saw them and called the cops. They were stacking up some other parts to take, but didn't get the chance.

Sounds like they knew exactly what they came for, chances are it was an inside job unfortunately.

Unfortunately we now live in nation where its best to stamp or mark, and take pictures of any thing of value.

No, it was a smash and grab. It had rained that day, so I'd driven to work instead of biking in, so no car in the driveway and wagon in the garage.
I had the heads out on dining room table test fitting the rocker arms. My neighbor caught them in the act so they bolted with the few things they'd loaded.

That all sucks.  But - you never know, maybe you were spared.  Yesterday here - and we're kinda small so not a big crime city - a prominent Realtor in a nice neighborhood heard someone kicking in the door.  Wife got out the back door, husband went to see WTF, husband shot dead.  They are still looking- now saying it is likely not a random act.

I stash everything of value in a trailer and unmarked boxes at this point, being in the south of Chicago vicinity crime is a common problem. It is a free for all around here now.
