Just curious
Ok so maybe BBM stuff is on the way, but Blue thunder intakes seem like they make them in
Such small quantities. It doesn't make sense why wouldn't this company want to make more
Pieces, It seems when they do come out there gone in no time, do they not see this. Maybe I am misinformed and they are a small company and can't afford to make big batches of intakes and cylinder heads. It just seems like everyone on the two or three forums that most of us are on would like to see and purchase some of this stuff

Nobody knows the answers to this question

Don't know squat about BT but I live close to BBM so I drop by every now and then.
They've always had lots of heads in stock from what I've seen. So as cast are an immediate ship.
I asked about a c n c'd head and was told that's just about a week lead time. So the heads are not a problem as of my last visit.
The blocks are a different story. I know that as soon as they come in they are gone. And I figure not only us hobby guys want them. They had a nice shipment come in at the end of Sept. and poof, all gone in a couple days. If you want one you're going to have to be proactive and call them to secure what you need. Then wait as I did. I got an iron block from that Sept. shipment.
I have not been there since they got the manifolds in so I don't know if they have a stock on those.
Hope that helps.

FE's are not a top priority at BT , they could sell a boat load of 2x4 and 1x4 manifolds if available , not to mention cylinder heads .... I know a few builders that wish BT would make the cylinder head ports smaller for more custom application without welding but they don't listen either
-
Like was said above, BT doesn't want to keep an inventory of parts, so they only cast them when when they have enough orders to sell out. They are not a big company with a sales staff and warehouse, but a small outfit. Keep in mind that the owner who still runs the business is in his 70s, and the way I understand it is he is more than content with the way things are.

Thanks guys it makes sense now

I would always buy BT over BBM any day. Just the fact made in America means something to me. If the BT is out of stock then wait for it. Does not mean one is better than the other. But keep your money at USA foundries if possible. If BT can make them here so can BBM.

you'd be waiting over 4 years or more now if BT's what float yer boat ..... terrible company to wait for a product labeled for FE

Art Francis (owner of Blue Thunder Auto) was one of the only guys supporting the FE back in the '70s and '80s. The reason that new BT FE products are somewhat rare now is that Art is in his '70's now and in poor health. Not a "terrible company" by any stretch of imagination.

Yes we sometimes forget the lean years when food is plenty.
We are somewhat spoiled now.
I believe in supporting free trade, that is what is allowing us such an abundance. ;)

totally understand ...... but if your waiting on some BT's to complete your project , well then it's a terrible company regardless how nice the castings are because they might not ever be made again or waiting years and years

I agree on not planning that new BT FE castings are coming anytime soon. I was talking with someone who knows Art really well a couple months ago and he told me that Art was in the hospital at the time and was seriously contemplating retirement. I hope that this is not the case but it sure doesn't sound good.
-
If he does want to retire, hope someone with the funding can walk in and keep the company going.
Everyone loves BT stuff.

especially with the same passion as Art , I wanted the 2x4 intake bad three or four years ago ended up getting a used one off of FE,com ...... I sure hope Art is doing better

Are BT 2X4 intakes readily available? I looked at the Survival site and the 2X4 said 2 to 3 days shipping.
I thought they were still backordered.

Its a default setting in the software. The intakes are not available yet.
Every time I reset the software it bounces back after a while. My software supplier - Yahoo Small Business - has been sold/resold a couple of times and getting reliable tech help from them has been impossible. I get to talk to somebody from INdia who reads from a script and closes every unsuccessful effort at fixing things with "and thunk you fer calling aabacco suh"....

That's funny Barry but unfortunately true

I feel your pain Barry.... I have windows 10

The reason I asked is that I've got a new one still in the plastic that I traded the C7ZE Shelby intake for. Plus some $ in my side.
Wondering how far it would go for a set of Survival Heads. I've also got a Edel RPM intake NIB to throw into the mix.
Brent---- Barry R............. Others?
Missed the offer when Brent had the BBM's for $1700 a week ago --- My loss

Tried to talk to the BT guy some years ago at Columbus. He was somewhere between hostile and positively malevolent. I don't need to try to talk to jerks like that. I POLITELY told him to pound sand and walked away. Not for me!!!

Art has not attended any trade function I am aware of for at least ten years - must have been a looong time ago at Columbus.
I would be interested in a trade/barter for that 2x4 intake and the RPM too.
But it will be a while before I have more castings.
-
I can't tell you for sure how long ago it was. But as I walked away I remarked to a guy who was standing nearby that if the company owner knew how his representative was acting toward paying customers he'd probably fire the bozo. I was told in return that the bozo WAS the owner. My comment stands. I have no idea who 'pissed in his cornflakes' that morning but a simple question regarding some feature of one of his products sure set him off. I had no idea who he was, and wouldn't have acted any differently if I'd known.

Haven't spoken with Art personally that I am aware of, but I have friends who have. He casts a lot of parts for other engine families besides the FE, and they sell quite well. Demand is always a key factor on determining what to cast, stock, or warehouse. Maybe if someone would place an order for 50-100 manifolds it would get his attention and speed things up. Takes money to make things happen in this economy. Just saying---Joe-JDC

Barry: sent you a PM. No rush on my end. I'll be in Michigan in May from the current plans.
Just want to see which heads I can get. I've got many intake options, these are however, the only never used ones.
