Title: Project's Update
Post by: TimeWarpF100 on November 22, 2016, 07:00:10 PM
Still have 2 FE powered trucks but wanted to have a couple with late model EFI power. Just because . .

I have been driving the one I call Eco 1. Its a 1966 F-250 Base model I picked up for 300.00

I ended up purchasing a new 126" W.B. Frame and installing the complete drivetrain, suspension, EPAS onto it. Along with entire late model F150 dash.
Very nice driving rig. It would simply have cost too much to upgrade, steering, suspension, brakes, interior. A bunch cheaper to buy a complete low mile donor and borrow all the parts I could.

Aluminum wheels had to be custom made to utilize the NOS 1966 F100 hubcaps. Also needed to clear the 14" Disc Brakes.

From GoodGuys this past weekend.

All working electronics etc. Fantastic power, comfort & mpg. Only operable truck at the moment and my daily (when its not raining) I added the Class IV hitch too. Good for 10,500 lbs.

Next one is another 1966 F-250. This one is a Ultra Rare "Ranger" Factory bucket seat truck. Very few in existence.

This one is getting Engine/Trans/Transfer case swap only none of the fancy gizmo's and gadgets like the other. Should be a HOOT to drive. It should weigh well under 4000 lbs estimating 3700 lbs. Not bad for a F-250!

This one has a 2015 3.5 Eco. Lets just say the engine~trans~transfer case was a "no cost" option donation by FoMoCO.  Simply could not turn down building another.

Upgraded to current year Dana 60. Axles, gears, yoke, posi unit. Changed to 3.54 gearing from the stock 4.10

Fully restored '66 chassis.

Fits perfectly between the rails and to cab. Just had to build a different engine mount.

Oh that is the epitome of cool!  The modern underpinnings with the character and patina of yesteryear.   8)

Thanks!
I dyno'd the stock one. Tune only. Stock air box, stock exhaust.
It made 405/532 at the tire.

Took Eco1 to Wild Horse Pass last evening. Everyone was running much slower than usual with a DA of 3550' (track is at 1140')

With a full tank of fuel and 100% as driven on street in 90+ degree weather ran:

13.036 @ 104.57 MPH

60' Time of 1.929

This is with a curb weight of 4643 lbs

This was in drive leaving from idle.

Oh yeah, Running 3.15 gearing in the 9.75" rear axle

6100 miles so far.  Made a trip to Knott's Berry Farm FFF show a couple weeks ago. 2000 rpm cruise is 80 mph.

Yes I have a '65.  Haven't made any of the car shows or anything in about 5 years, used to go to the Pavillion's all the time, and the Mesa Cruise Night before that got shut down.  Currently I only have time to commute between Tempe and Camelback & 40th.  :-P

Thanks!  Its nice to have one daily driver type that's smooth, quiet and tons of torque along with working A/C, cruise but still maintain the OLD CAR look.

Thanks! Total fun as a "driver" for now until it gets torn apart for paint. Before that happens need to get the '66 482 FE powered truck on road.
