Title: Rocker bolts for Edlebrok heads and Harland Sharp Rockers
Post by: ChiefDanGeorge on November 22, 2016, 01:08:11 PM
I've got to get a set of bolts/studs for the rockers. I see Edelbrok sells a stud set, but it doesn't say whether the shank(s) are sized appropriately for the oil feed hole.
What do you guys use?

They are.
Worked fine on my build.

I'm running Harland Sharps on Ed heads with their stud kit, studs are sized to accommodate the factory oiling scheme.

FWIW, I've always thought that the reduced-shank bolt in the 'oil' location was a production expedient to be sure that a stack-up of sizes wouldn't starve things. If you stop to think about it, it's very common to do something-or-other to restrict the oil immediately adjacent to where we're talking about. If you simply wiggle the bolt or stud going into that location to be sure there's no bind in the hole...

I use the same fastener in all holes.

It's not the bolt.
On Edelbrock heads the oil holes are NOT the same as stock heads.
Also if you use a head stud in the oil supply hole to the head it may restrict oil flow.
And depending on which aftermarket rocker arm stand that may restrict oil flow also.

I had the oil feeder holes opened up at the machine shop.
Ford did use a smaller diameter shank on those bolts though.
