I'm reading a 2015 updated version of Charles R. Morris' great and very FE heavy book "Total Performers -Ford Drag Racing in the 1960's".
Page 161 shows Ford's Total Performance 1970 Drag Racing Program Costs as follows:
Top Fuel Dragster: Kalitta, Robinson, Baney (Prudhomme)
20 SOHC engine blocks @$788.00 each
40 cylinder heads @ $278.00 each
20 crankshafts @ $209.00 each
Much more in a panel on the Program's cost. Get this one too: Detroit Lockers at $100.00 each!
Btw, the book is a reprint from its initial publication in 2005 with minor text updates but it's still IMO a must read for FE or Ford fans.

Very interesting reading. Charlie was at Beaver Springs this year and I had talked to him the yr before about the book. He said that it was being reprinted in hard cover and he would have them. I asked how long they were out of print? and he told me they were rare as the soft bound was easy to get. When I went to Beaver this spring I brought my copy to have him sign it. Imagine his surprise when I handed him the book, he looked at it and saw it was a first edition! He was gracious enough to sign it and got Ohio George, Al Jonic, and Dick Brannan to sign it as well.

I read the title and thought someone had just taken some acid and was tripping balls. In the 60's $278 was a lot of money.
