Title: Mallory YL 2 Wire Electronic Conversion?
Post by: 66FAIRLANE on September 26, 2016, 12:36:54 AM
I currently use (have for 20 years) a Mallory YL twin point with a Crane XR3000 (optical trigger) electronic conversion. It works great. I like it a lot. However I am considering Fitech EFI with timing control. They have said the timing control will not work with this set up. It will only work with a two wire magnetic pick up such as an MSD.

Anyone know of a 2 wire magnetic pick up conversion for this dizzy as I would rather not change it?

Thanks, that was my first thought and I asked their tech support. Here is their answer;

"I'm afraid the only type a trigger that will work at this time will be a
2 wire magnetic pickup, like an MSD distributor or certain knockoffs."

How about a crank trigger and use your Mallory to distribute?

Ken
Yes that's an option but trying to keep the cost and complexity down. Sort of the whole reason for going Fitech and shelving my home made multipoint project.

Keith
Yes a couple of pics would be great. Thanks for the offer, much appreciated.

No prob, I got called back into work so it may be kinda late or first thing in the morning. If its something that will work for you it's yours. I'll get you the pictures as soon as I get back home.
