Title: Alternator replacement
Post by: ChiefDanGeorge on September 03, 2016, 02:09:47 PM
This is probably a long shot, but alternator in my 63 Colony Park died. Rock Auto shows 2 replacements, one is definitely the wrong one as the connections in the back are wrong. The other is a MOTORCRAFT GL198ARM however I cannot find a dang picture of the rear connections. Anyone know where I might find a pic or diagram of one? Napa has a replacement: https://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/RSE2133300/RSE2133300_0270666810 and it is the correct connection, but I am trying to source a Motorcraft if possible.
<edit>

Welp found this: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/3I8AAOxydlFS79MF/s-l1600.jpg that's not the correct connections either.
Looks like I'll order the NAPA one and see about finding a local rebuilder as well.

Thanks!

I'd contact these guys about rebuilding it.

Got the NAPA alternator installed, however did run into an issue. I've got a belt guard that goes over the alternator to keep things from falling into the belts. The "fan" on the front of the new alternator is bigger than the other one, so when the guard is seated , the fan rubs(and makes a not nice noise) the guard. My temporary solution is to raise the guard a bit.
Found a local rebuilder and took the original alternator to hopefully get it rebuilt.
