Happy Father's Day to all
I have 2200 miles on my 482. It has always had 20 psi hot at idle and 55 hot at 2200.
Yesterday, for no particular reason, I started seeing 30 at idle and 65 at speed. Car has been running fine. No weird noises. Pressure varies normally with RPM, but it is just higher across all RPM's. It has a remote oil filter and a cooler...
Normally, I'd say "yay, more oil pressure" but it seems strange. On these remote setups, I can't remember if the pressure transducer is measuring at the oil pump out or the cooler return, but I think it's the return...
Any ideas?

I think I'd be changing the oil filter; maybe blew a hole in the element or something? Just guessing...

Thanks Jay. Replaced the filter today and the pressure are back to normal. I'm running a motorcraft fl-1a hp in case anyone was wondering

Speaking from experience from the heavy diesel aspect. Pressure is as we all know resistance to flow, pump moves x amount of fluid resulting in x amount of pressure which is determined by leakage (clearances etc.). If pressure begins to rise this is only possible with all other things being the same (clearances, oil viscosity, etc.) If either 1. the amount of fluid being moved is increased (pump RPM) more fluid through the same size hole increases pressure. Or 2. a blockage or restriction i.e. your filter becoming plugged. I would strongly recommend cutting open your filter and have a look.

The pressure sender is on the secondary side of the filter, so it would actually show a decrease in pressure if the filter was plugged. Since it showed an increase, it's likely that, like Jay said, there is a failure in the filter material somewhere. But I'd still be really interested in seeing that filter cut apart to see what actually happened.
