Title: FE Alum Blocks
Post by: Qikbbstang on June 09, 2016, 09:00:25 AM
I believe the SHELBY blocks are fairly radical as far as retaining the "original" configuration and other aftermarket FE alum blocks (when available) closely resemble a production block.   Are the Pond, BBM etc alum blocks essentially alum copies of production blocks with sleeves?

Nope.

BBM aluminum blocks aren't out yet.

Pond blocks don't have rear oil bypasses.  They also have structural ribs across the lifter valley.  Few minor differences....o-ring'd AN fitting for the rear main galley plug, doweled caps, etc, etc.

It's been a while since I've seen it discussed, but don't I remember that the basic Shelby casting started off being closer to a hemi casting and was then moved around as necessary to accommodate the FE architecture?

This must be who Dove is referring to with its claim about their SK block-not a redesigned hemi block- I believe that is what their website states. Anyone know the availability on any blocks right now? I have everything crossed for Jay and his project!

I have an aluminum pond block and they are reinforced in the lifter valley to start and other improvements.  if your looking for a block that looks the same externally,  yes these are the same
