Had the dizzy set up - I don't have the tools to get the gear off the stock Autolite shaft so I had a guy do it who is a bit of specialist. He changed the vacuum so it has 6 degrees of vacuum advance and 11 degrees of mechanical advance, and the mechanical advance is all in at 2,950 rpm. He is suggesting 13 degrees of initial advance for initial start.
It is a 445 with BBM aluminum heads.

I assume its 11 degrees at the distributor, so you'll see 22 at the balancer. 22+13=35 which sounds reasonable to me, but the BBM dyno guys can tell you if you need that much based on the chamber, quench and compression.
However, when he says mechanical advance is in at 2950, I would think he talking engine RPM, which is also good for a truck IMHO and right about where I have mine in an iron headed 445 with worse chambers

Yes, sorry I wasn't specific. 11 at the dizzy, 22 at the balancer. My old 410 ran best at 14 initial advance, but it was with a badly curved dizzy, so who knows what the mechanical advance worked out to.

I wrote to BBM and Doug replied that those heads call for 32 degrees total advance, so that is where we will start.
