I'm helping a friend rebuild his Holley replacement carb and was trying to find the original specs, to start from scratch and make sure nobody has switched plates or done other crazy stuff to it. I looked around and couldn't find the original specs anywhere. Does anyone have a link for where to look up Holleys original settings?

I don't have a link, but I have the Holley Illustrated Parts & Specs book. If you post the List number I can let you know what it says. It has the basic info for most all Holley carbs, up to the publishing date of the book. The main thing though is if it one of the popular models that has been around forever, like a List 1850, List 3310, or common double pumper for example, it won't have things like the metering block numbers since there have been too many over the years. For some of those I have kept notes over the years or have core carbs I could check, as have some other people here I've noticed. Barry R. has a book of engineering specs too I believe he saved.

Kevin, it's one of those oddball 5.0 replacement carbs (sorry it's not FE related). The numbers on the air-horn are 8834-3, 2164. It's a 4160 style 600cfm. I know they don't have a good reputation, but I'm going to try and get it to work for him before suggesting he buy a generic style.

Doug, I don't see a List 8834 in my books. Is it possible it's List 9834-3 or 89834-3?

If it's for a 1984-85 5.0 it would be a 4180 style carb. I have one and believe the stock primary jets were 62's or 64's if it has the annular boosters in primary.
What else you need to know?

I think the one Doug is working on is a replacement carb, not the factory 5.0 Holley. If it was one of the factory carbs the list number would have shown up in my book.

Yes, it's a replacement carb. I didn't have my "good" glasses with me (meaning my "I'm going blind so I need my stronger glasses" glasses ::)), but I'm pretty sure it was 8834-3. Even he thought it was an 8. I'll check again tomorrow, but I'm 99% sure that was it.
The jets that were in it were 72's, which I thought might be a bit big. And given that the engine is running rich, I wanted to check factory specs. But the body was severely warped and idle screws killed the engine after anything past 3/4 turn, so it's got some issues. It's getting a good trueing up before going back together and I just wanted to start at factory specs.

Holley Renew kit #37-720, Trick kit # 37-912.
Primary and Secondary needle & seat #6-506 ( .097 size ).
Primary main jet 68.
*Earlier versions used different main jets - List 9834 close limit jet #642, List 9834-1 close limit jet 661.
Secondary metering plate #39
Primary Power Valve 65 ( 6.5)
Squirter noozle .031
Secondary spring - Black
Accelerator pump cam position #2
