Man o' man, you should talk and post more.
That thing is absolutely beautiful.
The rear seat area is so perfectly executed.
I don't think I could ever see to many pictures of it.
Had to tell you how gorgeous it is then I'm going back to pour over the pics again.
How 'bout some engine and drive train details?
Congratulations.
-
Congrats. Looks like the win was well deserved.
-
Very, very nice! I always liked the 1964-65 comets. Great going! Man that is just plain SWEET !
-
I saw it and talked to him for a little while.
Car is stunning - really, really nice in every way.
-
Congrats Al, that is a beautiful car!
-
Seriously Al, that is just too much!
I very very rarely lust over a vehicle, but you've got me. That thing is artwork on so many levels.
To echo Turbohunter, please post more, people are tired of seeing my worn out vehicles :P
-
Holy cow!! Why would you not talk and post about that? That is simply stunning, stunning, just stunning. 8) 8)
-
That is a gorgeous car!!! Lots of amazing talent went in to that!!!
-
We will be expecting some seriously important excuses to not "talk" about it, by that I mean BRAG, about that cool a$$ car. Those are on my list as have to have one. Please give is more pics and info on it as we are all drooling over it.
-
i cant quit looking at this comet.its one of the all time nicest cars i have ever seen.and that 511 is beautiful.only bad thing is it makes me feel like i own junk!
-
Congratulations, Al!!! What a stunning car. And a well deserved First Place also!
I can chip in on some of the details. When he was kind enough to give me a preview of the car with some pictures, I asked about the engine specs, parts used and finally the power output...he responded with some of the details and concluded with "A bunch". LOL A classic answer that didn't even need to be said. I got a big laugh out of that one. ;D
-
AWESOME car!!!
I need to roll my tongue back up and empty the 5 gallon bucket of drool. ;D
The FE is getting some well deserved attention these days.......
-
Al, Love that Comet! As mentioned above, fantastic attention to detail and the finished product is truly awesome. My first exposure to a '64 Comet race car was Jack Chrisman's blown 427 which was one of the pioneer funny cars. This car does a great tribute to that and then some!

Congrats on the first place trophy! Very cool you beat out all those Chevy's and Mopar's, I am sure the "field" was stacked. That car is worthy for sure, top shelf everywhere and great execution front to back, top to bottom.
Looks like a 25.5 chassis, very nicely done cage, and ready for the strip. My kind of show car, can actually go too! Looks like it will go 8's to me. Please tell me you are going to make some passes! Any info you care to share on the engine???, curious on the heads, would guess Pro-Ports but almost look like HR looking at the valve cover angle but hard to tell. Billet runner sheetmetal intake, offset distributor, and Moroso fabbed valve covers all look super.
-
Seriously Thank You everyone.
The restoration took from Aug. 07 until last Weds. to complete. Was a rotisserie deal, undercarriage, engine bay and entire cage were powder-coated asap upon completion of cage. It has a 4-link wish-bone anti-roll Fab 9 also all from Chrome Moly. Hood,deck-lid and bumpers are glass, rest is oem panels, doors and fenders were acid dipped. Car is factory steering 65' upgrade flaming river 16:1 box. Tubular upper lowers CM with Moog ball joints, wilwoods around. Coan trans and converter, Afcos all corners. Jeff Colvert Pro Ports, Hogan intake needs touched up yet show got in way, Kuntz built, pro systems carbs. No weight yet and will get certified in spring, will be 25.5 or 25.2 I'm told, went extra for safety. It's round tube firewall back. I call it a Modern Day A/FX with yesterdays look. Has a Spagetti Menders wiring system.
I built it to race and be fast on a 29.5x10.5 tire, more of a heads up, match race, shoot out car. I kinda got going and just couldn't cut any corners or wouldn't of been happy. And XR7 in the 8,s is my plan, I actually super glued the odometer at 890.6 as to not forget goal and race cars have low miles:) Thanks again for the compliments and it was nice to visit with Barry R too....................Al
-
Al that is one of the most beautiful, bad ass cars I've ever seen.
Really mean it. I know how hard it is to do things to that level of finish as I've never gotten there.
Congrats again.
If you have more pics I promise we won't complain. :)
-
Job well done!! Very Nice
-
Truly spectacular!
:P
-
Awesome car. Congrats on a job well done. Time to enjoy.
-
Awesome car Al! I saw the car at autorama and couldn't stop drooling. I noticed the sign by your car said you're from Essexville, I'm just over the bridge from you (Bay City), great to see another local FE.
-
Thanks again guys!
Luxury, I know your car have saw it several times cruising Midland St.. My parents bought a Dk. Green one new. I will hail you down this summer, you won't see the Comet cruising often, although it will have plates, makes it legal in 10.5 street car shoot-outs. I'll just trailer to Bay City............Al

Here is a video from Street Machine Magazine in Australia they did on my car at Autorama................Al

-
Very, very nice car Al. I look forward to hearing about when it hits the strip.
-
Thank You Todd, Boris spoke highly of you, your 63' Galaxy and Thunderbolt. He was surprised when I told him I knew of you and your cars. I can't wait to hear how yours gets down the track, it is very nice as well.....................Al
-
Absolutely beautiful always nice when you do the work yourself and get an a-ok from your friends and peers, CONGRATS
-
Thank You but I have to say I was more of a check writer.
Yes I assembled the car, trim, wiring, cut the Makrolon, the design and chose the right people, and my parents taught me how to work hard and save, but.......
Ernie at EC1 Racecars built the chassis, shock towers, relocated master cylinder, and headers.
Jeff's Upholstery did stiching from a 1964 Caliente advertisement I found.
Rod Vandecar did a beautiful paint job after working his normal job.
McCarthy Performance fabbed a bunch of parts from my cardboard templates to perfection including hub for Factory wheel quick dis-connect
I wish I could do some of the stuff I enjoy reading you all do, but have to accept that's not my roll in this world...................Al
-
Well everyone, I completed my first ever highway drive tonight after 8 yrs of ownership. Only a couple miles but ran 180* and was good shakedown. Need alignment and I'll do it again, and rock it next time. Took the photos before loading to go home, went out to the country with 2 lanes to my self.....Al
-
Hopefully you have many more enjoyable miles, it's still one beautiful ride!
-
Agree with Kevin; I think you'll find a whole new level of enjoyment getting it out on the road!
