Title: SCJ balancer recommendations
Post by: 4twennyAint on February 28, 2016, 10:05:32 AM
Looking for wisdom on buying balancers for SCJ, but for two different applications.  For one car we need a stock, correct replacement C8AE-C.  The second is for a T-bolt clone my dad brought home, sporting an FE that I'm guessing was built in the 80's (more on that).  He just wants to run it for fun, but I'm thinking better than stock should be applied in an effort to not ruin some rare parts; there's an SCJ balancer out front looking suspect.  I appreciate any feedback.

FE of the 80's - we can see an SCJ balancer, 406 heads, Ford adj. rockers, an Edelbrock F-427 intake and a Holley 750.  Haven't checked cam yet, but it sounds big.  Seller didn't build it but said the heads had bigger valves and it had really high compression.  I'd like to swap an intake immediately but haven't convinced him there's far better choices.

This is the recently-bought T-bolt.  Over all, nice work was done on the car and engine.  It's been sitting awhile - its quite dirty.  Anyone recognize this car?  I'm guessing it went l0w 11's maybe high 10's.

The valve covers look like they might be Mickey Thompson's with the M/T milled off the top.  Good score by your Dad!
