Title: Timing Cover Bolts
Post by: Yellow Truck on February 26, 2016, 12:51:26 PM
I've had my engine apart so long I'm not sure what bolts go to the timing cover. Anyone know what I need? I don't want to buy a kit from ARP because I already bought most of them separately before I realized I couldn't find the timing cover bolts (may have given them away with the old block).

It is coming up on my one year anniversary since I started this project (which is probably why I can't remember what I did with them), not helped by the fact that escaped winter in my motorhome the first week of January and have been hanging around in California and Oregon ever since.

I will be going home in the next couple of weeks and I'm determined to put the beast together, but before I left I was rummaging through all the bits and couldn't find them. What I thought were the fasteners seem to too long as they reach the back of the water jacket or bottom out.

I see Year One are the only vendor that sell a kit, but I hate paying UPS more than the price of the part for delivery! I'm not really cheap, I just hate UPS. Should be able to buy standard bolts if I have the sizes.

3/8-16 X 3/4" and 5/16-18 X 3/4" ought to work just fine.  You need four of each, plus four more 5/16-18 for the oil pan bolts that come up from underneath.

Thanks Jay, I managed to not lose the oil pan bolts.
