That is very cool !!!! One of the cars that really made an impression on me as a kid, along with Chrismans Comets, Ronda's earlier Mustangs, Car Crafts Cougar, Nicholsons cars and Mickey Thompsons Mach 1. A little bummed to see those exhaust pipes so clean, but I'm hoping it was just finished for the article and that it'll soon be fired and ran. I hope I get the chance to see it.

The way flip-top Funny Cars evolved and were treated I'd just like to see what the "located remains" of Gas Ronda’s last Mustang in Florida were. Hope Hajek posts pictures of the "way it was found" like the fellow that forum member (Dr Craft?) restored that magnificent Galaxie NASCAR racer from a twisted/rusted pile of metal with a Holman Moody plate in it. I think Car Craft had a yellow cover with that funny car taking up the majority of it. Those were the days of real Funny Cars when as the article states they were essentially elongated take-offs of real bodies.

Great article and chunk of SOHC history. Larry Fullerton "Trojen Horse" who had a local speed shop, told me he crashed and threw the body off his funny car, his crew had to chase down spectators in the parking lot that were loading the body over a pick-up truck to take home as a souvenir!
Interesting that Gas Ronda's Funny Car body lasted so long ---- wonder what the odds are that body in the "IN SEARCH OF GAS RONDA" article is what Brent Hajek started with?.....
Note how the #2 picture in the "Funny car restoration finished, just in time " article conveniently cuts off the cars rear quarter scoop which is explained and showed in the "IN SEARCH OF GAS RONDA" article.
Living in Jax we have HAIRY GLASS that has made funny car bodies for decades. As long as I can remember you could see the stacked up molds and bodies laying all over their yard, though now he keeps them behind the building: click on "streetside" picture (zoom in) in link below to see them
