Here's a video of a fast 69 Cyclone. Unfortunately, it's not an FE, but still very cool!
There's a background story of the car in the vid description.

Very cool. Looks like a Talladega front end on that car. Too bad it has one of those goofy brand-X hood bumps, kind of takes away from the Ford appearance...
-
Wow, what a car! It's a nice leaver as well. Would like to know more about it.
Amazing that when I read your lead-in, I thought it might be about Dyno Don, Chrisman or Schartman's Logghe chassised, nitro burning funny cars. Amazing that a much heavier, gas powered car even with nitrous can out e.t. the old nitro funny cars of yore!
-
Agree with Jay, the hood bump needs "aid" ;) pretty car though. When comparing modern cars to the original Comet flip-top Funny Cars keep in mind the tires they ran in those days, over 50 years ago!
-
True on the tires yet they did do traction compound on the tires and rosin on the track (Jungle Pam!) that really helped e.t.'s on the match race circuit. NHRA didn't allow same at national events which is why all the records were set at non-event tracks where 2-3 rosin aided burnouts were done before each launch.
Those were the days!

That's Randy Dolsenek from Wisconsin. A bad car for sure. It has been a race car for 20 years plus. It has progressed for the past 20 + years. There was a big write up in RPM magazine a few years ago.

Did a quick search...... here's a good informative read.

The main thing is that its ford powered

Very cool car. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of the Talladega body style, but it looks good on that drag car...and makes sense for aerodynamics, as does the hood scoop I suppose.

Hey, thank for the article. That's an even cooler car now seeing the specs and more pics.

Thanks for the link, Travis. Much appreciated.

Wow what a great car.

Very cool, nicely done. Quality article on it too.
A stock 69 Cyclone style scoop (taller aftermarket Boss 429 version) may pick up some ET with functional ram air.

I highly doubt that at 180mph the boss scoop with functional ram air would be any faster. Turbulence over the carbs / throttle bodies has a big effect on emulsion and how the air is transitioned into the engine. Not to mention the aero drag of the boss scoop would be like trying to hold a mattress up in a wind storm. Randy has been working on his program for 25 years probably and progressed into something that not many of us have had the opportunity to perform at this level. Ill choose to call it what it is ........ A bad Green Machine..... lol

RPM mag is a great read, awesome cars and alot of bad ass cars from the est coast.
Check the DEC 2014/issue. Hand crafted horse. Ralph is one of my very best friends and I Ben going racing with him for years. The whole car was built in a 2 car garage. We made a make shift trailer hitch for his little zx2 and hooked up a light weight utility trailer and went to Harry's glass to pick up the body. Talk about getting some looks lol. He had a probe before he built this car and we have done a ton of quick 8 and quick 16 races at mostly 1/8th mile tracks such as Richmond drag way, northeast dragway, outer banks, colonial beach, and of course some 1/4 stuff at VMP and buds creek.
Also check Feb 2015 issue, MACHoMAN . That's Terry leggett's pro mod that he runs quick 8 and pro mod in the PDRA. Of course he has even more resources than Ralph and his car was all pro built.
Sorry for the ramblings, jus a couple good friend's , one which I have done alot of the racing with and both that have way more $$ resources than me lol. Ralph had fell on bad health after his wife passed but he's doing alot better now and making a comeback and we have talked about me getting my license upgraded and possibly getting behind the wheel of his mustang and trying to get it sorted out and get a few good runs in it before its time for him to hang it up..
I'm eagerly hoping... ;)

Will do as I get my hands on past issues!

That is a very cool and fast Cyclone, I also like the stream line look of the cowl hood especially blacked out.................Al
