Title: Crower cool-face solid lifters push rod question
Post by: 63.5xl on January 28, 2016, 10:24:48 AM
Has anyone used the 66915X980 crower cool-face lifters. Just wondering what the push rod length they ended up with using stock adjustable rockers. I have a pushrod checker if I decide to order the lifters but it only goes up to 9 1/2 inches. Are they longer than that?

After some searching I found where DSC, says a 10.400 pushrod is need for solids with shell lifters so I will have to another push rod checker that goes from like 10 inches to 11 inches to measure my for sure.

It can't be that difficult to make the push rod checker longer.
An extra bit of threaded rod or something along that line.

You are likely correct for a shell lifter, but I don't think that is a shell lifter Carl.

A shell lifter is generally a hollow cup and could not really be made to oil at the face.  I could be wrong, but I believe those are simply a SBF lifter

This is a poor picture, but you can see down inside the lifter

Ask Brent Lykins.  He uses them all the time.

On another note, once I'm done getting my rockers test fit, I'll be measuring for pushrods with these lifters.  (couple days)

You are right Ross, after checking and talking to Crower, the seat height on the cool-face lifter is 1.640 where the seat height on the dumbell that Howards Cam has is 1.796 and the dumbell that comp has is 1.790, so not a big difference like the shell lifter would be. Comps shell lifter 837 shows a seat height of only 0.470, a big difference.
I ordered the crower cool-face lifters from Brent this morning.
