Title: WTB..... a good 410/428 crank>>> I found one....thanks guys
Post by: KMcCullah on December 22, 2015, 07:53:42 PM
I'd prefer one that doesn't have welded journals or is at .040-.040 already. Summit has Eagle cranks for just north of $400 but I'd rather have a FoMoCo at .020 or .030 under than a new one made from recycled Datsuns you know?

Thanks guys

Kevin

I have 7 at a crank grinder now. some IU and some IUB. I think some will come back at std std requiring only a polish. some will need turned. when I get them back I will price them.

If you don't mind Kevin I'd like to jump into line after you.
I'll send you my info when you're done with Kevin, Jim.

The scat 9000 series is a very good new option.

Hi Jim- when do you expect the grinder will be done with your cranks?

I can't rush him. he is 85 years old and does excellent work but he is a little slow. I can't give you an exact date but I am in and out of his machine shop a couple of times a week so am staying on top of it.

Hey Kevin, Mr. Jim is a good feller.  You won't have to worry about deals with him.  You might want to get with him about buying one before turning......housing bores in blocks and rods can change your desires on sizes......you might want to turn it close to home where mics can be compared...just a thought.  Mr. Jim, you won't have to worry about deals with Kevin either!
